2.2 METAL BOLLARDS

MATERIAL

Aluminum weighs less than cast iron, an important consideration for removable bollards. When its finish coat is damaged, aluminum oxidizes to a color that is generally more acceptable than the red rust produced by cast iron.

MOUNTING

For security/anti-ram applications, Reliance Foundry bollards can be installed as decorative covers over steel security posts. Determine security post and footing requirements with security consultant and structural engineer. Verify that bollard types specified have sufficient inside diameter and height to fit over required security posts.

For retractable (also called collapsible or telescoping) bollards, contact Reliance Foundry for information on manually-operated rising bollards. Determine footing and drainage requirements. Verify that underground utilities will not be disturbed by excavation for bollard receivers.

Bollard receivers to add removal or fold-down capability to fixed bollards are available for retrofit and for customizing a fixed bollard design. Contact Reliance Foundry for more information.
