1 Now when morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the

people conferred together against Jesus to put Him to death; 2 and

they bound Him, and led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate the

governor.

28 Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was

early; and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium so that

they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover. 29 Therefore

Pilate went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring

against this Man?” 30 They answered and said to him, “If this Man

were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him to you.” 31 So

Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to

your law.” The Jews said to him, “We are not permitted to put anyone

to death,” 32 to fulfill the word of Jesus which He spoke, signifying by

what kind of death He was about to die.

- John 18:28-32 NASB

11 Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned

Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And Jesus said to him, “It

is as you say.” 12 And while He was being accused by the chief priests

and elders, He did not answer. 13 Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not

hear how many things they testify against You?” 14 And He did not

answer him with regard to even a single charge, so the governor was

quite amazed.

- Matthew 27:11-14 NASB

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

Yet He did not open His mouth;

Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,

And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,

So He did not open His mouth.

- Isaiah 53:7 NASB

13 Pilate summoned the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

14and said to them, “You brought this man to me as one who incites

the people to rebellion, and behold, having examined Him before you, I

have found no guilt in this man regarding the charges which you make

against Him. 15 “No, nor has Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and

behold, nothing deserving death has been done by Him.

- Luke 23:13-15 NASB

15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the

people any one prisoner whom they wanted. 16 At that time they were

holding a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas. 17 So when the people

gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to

release for you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” 18 For he

knew that because of envy they had handed Him over.

- Matthew 27:15-18 NASB

While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a

message, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous Man; for last

night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him.”

- Matthew 27:19 NASB

20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for

Barabbas and to put Jesus to death. 21 But the governor said to them,

“Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said,

“Barabbas.” 22 Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus

who is called Christ?” They all said, “Crucify Him!” 23 And he said,

“Why, what evil has He done?” But they kept shouting all the more,

saying, “Crucify Him!”

24 When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that

a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the

crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this Man’s blood; see to that

yourselves.” 25 And all the people said, “His blood shall be on us and

on our children!” 26 Then he released Barabbas for them; but after

having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

This Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and

foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless

men and put Him to death.

13 “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has

glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned

in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. 14 “But

you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer

to be granted to you, 15 but put to death the Prince of life, the one

whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were

yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been

justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through

Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God

through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we

shall be saved by His life

- Romans 5:8-10 NASB
