Spaces are now allowed in the SUP file paths for ADS40 Kit projects.

The default coordinate system is now saved as set in the DAT/EM ADS40 project type.

If no control files exists for the ADS40 Kit project, the easiest thing to do is to use the Control Editor to create a

If "Rotate with Summit Model" is active in the General tab, the dial will display the correct rotation automatically.

6. An option was added to the Generate Models dialog to consider only images that have an exterior orientation.

Images that exist in the project, but have not been oriented, are not considered when creating models. 7. Share Settings.exe is a program used for exporting Summit settings. It creates a file that can be imported into any

other Summit station to duplicate default settings between them. A change was made so the process confirms that both systems have the same release version installed before applying the settings. Share Settings.exe is located in the ...Program Files\Datem Software folder.

8. A request was made to offer an easy way to toggle on and off popular features without creating a custom toolbar.

Quick Options was added to the pulldown menu, and a toolbar was created.

If the toolbar is not in the Summit window, you can open it by selecting Tools -> Customize Toolbars. Check on

"Quick Options" in the Toolbars tab.

9. Automatically building models using exteriors for digital camera projects was creating pseudo models. This was

fixed. 10. The birds-eye menu display was not performing correctly in ProPack project types. This was fixed.

11. The Socet Set project import option now supports scanned aerial project data using .IPF and .GPF files. The .IPF file contains image points, while the .GPF contains points for ground control.

12. The Coordinate Conversion database was updated. Now there are many more options for selecting coordinate

projections, vertical references, and datums. With these additional choices are both 2D and 3D definitions. Summit will post a notice if a 2D selection is made.

You may continue to use this option, but then you must also define a 3D projected point Unit. When selecting a 3D projection, defining the Unit as specifically 3D is not necessary.

To verify that the coordinate system is 3D you can right click on the selection and pick on "View Info".

Also, you must be careful when combining projethat different original files' names are unique. For example, if two different projects use two different cameras, but the camera files are both called camera.cam, this could cause a problem.

Click "Add Projects" to add multiple projects to the dialog, or drag and drop them from Windows Explorer into the

Merge/Extract Projects dialog. Columns list details for each project for Images, Modes and Strips. Each column has an option to "Adjust Other Lists". For example, uncheck an image to remove it from the new merged project. If "Adjust Other Lists" is on, it will be removed from the other projects automatically. Highlighting another project displays that project's details in the columns.

Additional information about the selected project appears at the bottom of the dialog box. When all projects have

been added and edited for desired content, click "Create Project..." to create a new Summit project containing all of the images and orientations from the selected projects and their contents, ready to use for mapping.

SUPERIMPOSITION 1. Speed improvements were made to reduce the time taken when refreshing SI, especially when switching models.

CAPTURE FOR ARCGIS NOTE: Compatible with 32-bit versions of ArcGIS 9.1 and 9.2. 1. FieldUpdate failed to launch properly and was fixed. 2. The Zoom slider on the DAT/EM Capture dialog was expanded to accommodate some users who wanted to see a

larger area in the ArcMap view than was shown in the Summit Evolution view. With ArcGIS, please set the desired zoom scale and always keep the "Automatically match the Image view and CAD windows to the same zoom level" setting ON in Summit's Options -> Main View tab. This setting must be on in order to keep the Summit cursor in the ArcMap view at all times; ArcMap can crash if the cursor leaves its view.

CAPTURE for AutoCAD NOTE: All changes apply to 32-bit AutoCAD 2000-2009 versions unless stated otherwise. When using AutoCAD 2008-2009, please install the 32-bit version. Capture is not compatible with the 64-bit version of AutoCAD 2008-2009 at this time. The 32-bit version of AutoCAD 2008-2009 will NOT install and run on a 64-bit operating system. 1. SetObjectZ was streaming messages as you moved the mouse or Summit cursor. A selection caused AutoCAD to

crash. This was fixed. 2. BreakLineFilter now saves layer and distance settings between runs. Blocks may be used as filtered objects. 3. DATDRAW, has been added to Capture for AutoCAD 2007, 2008 or 2009 versions only. This is a very powerful

drawing tool with many options and features. It is designed to both create and edit 2D and 3D polylines. Drawing modes may be toggled at any time during the creation of an object. For example, you can begin in point-to-point Line mode, and switch over to Psquare mode for squaring corners without ending the polyline. The following prompt appears when DATDRAW is entered at the command line.

Select "new2d" by typing "2" for creating 2D polylines. The prompt then becomes "Select point on arc [Line 2ptarc

Stream Psquare zRound<Exact> Close Undo]:" Line begins digitizing a 2D polyline in point-to-point mode; 2ptarc activates arc mode; Stream begins stream collection based on settings in the Setup dialog; Psquare creates 90-degree angle between the previous segment and subsequent segments; zRound will activate elevation round-off to the nearest contour interval, which is defined in the Setup dialog; Close closes the polyline, and Undo removes one or more previously digitized points.

Type "3" to select "new3d" and digitize a polyline in 3D. The prompts duplicate those for the 2D option, with the

following exceptions: 3ptarc creates an arc using three digitized points; Xytol(20.0) defines the angle tolerance used for squaring; Zseq[Off] sets a check for elevation slope consistency. Entering "z" toggles between Ascending and Descending. For example, if Zseq is set to Ascending, any point digitized must have an elevation higher than the preceding point or it will not be recorded.

End will prompt the user to "Select Polyline break point:", which determine the location from which the end of the

polyline will be redrawn. Snapping to the endpoint of the polyline appends vertices to the existing element. Inner asks for the first and second break points, then rubber-bands from the first break point ready to digitize the inner

section of the polyline using any of the DATDRAW digitizing modes. Join is an interactive digitizing method of connecting two polylines. The break points on each polyline may be

anywhere along the polylines, or the endpoints. shiftZ is used to change the elevation of a vertex or a 2D polyline.

NOTE: It is recommended to turn off Dynamic Input while using this command. 4. Labelit's "Save Clipped Segments" option was always processing whether on or off. This was fixed. The ability to pick

contours while applying evenly spaced labels was added. Also, Labelit was changed to "Clip Around Label" correctly on polyline closing segments.

5. An option was added to DTMIT to toggle on/off the "drive to ground" setting during collection. A "t" turns on/off the

drive-to-ground feature. To end the session, Type "r" to return to the dialog and click Close. The following shows the prompts at the command line when DTMIT is active.

CAPTURE for MicroStation Changes apply to Capture for 32-bit MicroStation V8/2004 Edition series only. MicroStation V8 version should be 08.05.00.64 or higher. Testing has not been completed for MicroStation XM compatibility, and Release 4.4 is considered a beta release. You are welcome to use Capture for MicroStation XM and report any problems to [email protected]. However, at this time DAT/EM cannot recommend Capture for XM for map production. (Note: Bentley recommends that hyperthreading be off in the PC BIOS for best performance.) 1. StrokeElement replaces CurveToString for breaking down curves to vectors. CurveToString has been removed from

the command list for Map Editor and Capture. StrokeElement preserves the appearance of the original curve better and processes complex elements properly.

2. Replace Object has a new "Rotate Cells" checkbox. If the checkbox is checked on, the rotation value is enabled and

applied to all replacement operations. If unchecked, the new cell is placed according to the rotation of the element being replaced.

3. Corrections were made in the file listings for some browse lists in dialogs such as BuildingFrame. Some file types were not appearing in the dialog unless "All Files (*.*)" was chosen. Now the file filters are applied correctly. Tooltips also appear correctly. In addition, the last folder visited is saved and re-opened when the list is revisited in the same drawing session.

Page 13: RELEASE 4.5 Product Notes September 2008 - Ecogis · 2014-11-22 · The Image Adjustment dialog for ADS40 projects was slightly modified to display 12-16-bit imagery better. It is

4. When changing line styles to a custom line style with Change Attributes, the user may now specify a scale for the updated style.

Scaling only applies to custom line styles. The line styles that come with MicroStation are not scalable. 5. Spot height measurements at an editing station are now possible. SPOTX was added as an interactive command for

Map Editor licenses. The key-in for Map Editor's spot elevation command is MESPOTX. 6. JONIIT has several new features with improved performance.

Both "Add Vertex" and "Smooth Vertices" existed in Release 4.4. Add Vertex simply extends one element to the other

using a straight segment. Smooth Vertices performs some smoothing around the join. Peel and Blend was added in Release 4.5. This procedure clips based on the Search/Clip Radius setting and inserts a single vertex at the mid point before joining the elements.

Advanced settings will be completed in the next release. To see advanced settings, you can click on the expand arrow

in the dialog. However, Release 4.5 does not fully support these advanced settings yet. The advanced settings are not selectable.

Page 14: RELEASE 4.5 Product Notes September 2008 - Ecogis · 2014-11-22 · The Image Adjustment dialog for ADS40 projects was slightly modified to display 12-16-bit imagery better. It is

A brief description of the advanced settings follows for those who may be interested. If there are additional suggestions

you have for the advanced settings area, please contact support. Activating "Condense Levels" will consider "Touch To" elements globally across the master drawing and reference files.

Because reference files cannot be modified, reference file elements will be ignored and the master elements will be modified to extend to them. Different symbology for "Touch To" elements is supported by defining a "Touch to Set" selection set.

7. Datem Profile has many enhancements to provide expanded functionality and dependable performance.

Selecting "Element Start" will drive the cursor to the beginning of the line string for profiling. The second option is to

drive to the snapped "Cursor Location" along the line string to begin profiling. For complex chains, arcs will be stroked as line segments. The Lock movement mode will keep the cursor snapped to

the XY position of the profile.

Page 15: RELEASE 4.5 Product Notes September 2008 - Ecogis · 2014-11-22 · The Image Adjustment dialog for ADS40 projects was slightly modified to display 12-16-bit imagery better. It is

There are various options for the elements inserted along the profile element. Cells and Points (zero length line

strings) may be placed anywhere along the profile. The option "3D Linestring" creates a separate line string without modifying the original profile. Use "Edit/Densify" to add vertices or make changes to the profile line string itself.

The "Stop" button will break away from the profile and allow the cursor to move normally. "Resume" activates after profiling begins, and may be used for a simple UNDO, to pick up where the last profile run

ended, or to continue profiling after performing another MicroStation command. If a line string was being created during the last profile action, Resume would continue to add vertices on the previously created line string.

8. SI Clip was not working properly due to incorrect clip ranges for master and reference file scans. This was fixed. SI highlighting was improved by only highlighting the most recently selected element, and deleting residual vertexes

after an object was deleted. SI display by levels had problems when reference files were attached, which has been fixed. Turning off the display of a reference file in MicroStation now results in the data not displayed in SI, even if

"References On" is checked on in the SI Settings dialog. 9. Psqr Elm, a utility to square existing elements, has improved validation tools for correct element processing. 10. Touch Ends worked once and then snapping and autolocate failed on subsequent actions. This has been fixed. 11. Complex chains created with AutoArc and DatDraw were non-snappable. While parts of the chain were snappable,

the complex chain was not. These commands were changed so that both the complex chain and its parts are defined as snappable when created.

12. BuildingFrame's complex TIN option was not working properly. Shapes inside of shapes should triangulate to each

other. This was fixed. Viewing in Summit's 3D vector split window with Light 3D Faces on shades the complex object as one element.

Also, BuildingFrame previously ignored the closing segment on a shape; it now triangulates the closing segment properly.

13. PSQR was not displaying vertices on the first run. This was fixed. 14. Running Culvert from the DATEM menu failed and could result in an error "Cell not Found". The menu item has been

corrected to place the current active cell. If the active cell is not set, Culvert will attempt to place a cell named "CULV", which exists in DAT/EM's default cell file.

Page 16: RELEASE 4.5 Product Notes September 2008 - Ecogis · 2014-11-22 · The Image Adjustment dialog for ADS40 projects was slightly modified to display 12-16-bit imagery better. It is

15. The Datem Coords dialog box on/off status is now saved between MicroStation sessions. The dialog is displayed by default. If the user closes the dialog, it is noted in the registry and no longer displayed. To enable the dialog again, select in from the DATEM pulldown menu or enter the command DATEM COORDS at the command line.

16. Replace Cell scaling was fixed to preserve the scaling when rotations are applied.
