MATERIALS Post it notes
INTRODUCTION TIME: 10MINSIn pairs, ask young people to think about what a healthy relationship consists of and write any key words on a post-it note. Emphasise that a relationship can be with friends, family or boyfriend/girlfriends.
Ask young people to feedback on their discussions
SESSION CONTENT
ACTIVITY ONE TIME: 20MINS
Split young people into small groups ask them to pick one of the following relationships: Young people and parents/carers Young people and friends Young people and brothers/sisters Young people and boyfriends/girlfriends
As a group ask them to discuss the reasons why young people may have difficulty with this relationship and write a letter to an agony aunt/uncle explaining the problems.
Ask them to swap this letter with another group.
Agony Aunts and Uncles!!In the same groups, ask the young people to read the letter they have just swapped. Ask them to write a letter in response offering advice to the young person on where they can access support. They can consult the Young Scot website for sources of information and support www.youngscot.org
EVALUATION TIME: 5MINS
Relationship SupportAsk young people to feedback to the rest of the group on sources of support they have learnt about during the session.
