Community Project A ‘marketplace’ of community projects will open at the Launch Event, staffed by members of the organizations who will present their projects/opportunities for you to choose from. You will then ‘shop’ for the project that you find most interesting and cohort groups of 6-10 will form around the project, ensuring a point of shared interest to start the team-building process. Community projects will be designed to engage the power of a cross-generational team to solve a systemic community issue or problem or identify and exploit new opportunities. The purpose of these projects is two-fold: To allow you to do good in the community, while demonstrating your increased self-awareness through peer-directed community projects in a “problem-based” learning environment. Cohort groups will be required to engage Gen X and Boomer participants from their professional sphere, as they work to serve the community and complete the chosen project, ensuring cross-generational involvement. Cohorts Groups will form around projects of interest, in accordance with our guidelines (gender, company, role mix and size). Groups will consist of 6-10 participants. A pair of mentors will be assigned to each group at the Launch Event.

Each group will be self-governed, determining the type and frequency of their meetings (within guidelines provided) and will build and implement their plan for completing the community project they have chosen and hitting program milestones. Each cohort will set-up a private Facebook group through which they will interact between face-to-face meetings. Cohort groups will be required to involve their mentors in at least one meeting per month. Professional Development Plans You will be asked to meet with your boss and sponsor (if different from your boss) to discuss professional strengths, areas for improvement and ideas for future development. You and others in your life will complete a 360 Assessment prior to the start of the program, with the assessments de-briefed in a group session at the Launch Event, providing insights that can be used to inform parts of your personal and professional development plan. The Launch Event will feature a segment on professional development plans, a template will be provided to use as a guideline and time will be allocated to start work on the plan. The first team session with the mentors following the kick-off event will feature a discussion on development plans and their use. Mentors will reference professional development plans throughout the program, both in group and 1:1 meetings. You are strongly encouraged to share your plan with your boss and/or sponsor and set dates for further development discussions at work as you progress through the program. Half-day events are likely to include the sharing of personal and professional development insights, successes and challenges in order to further reinforce the importance and value of development planning and implementation. Mentoring Mentors will be assigned in pairs – two per cohort group. Mentors will help advise and guide your group as you work on your community project.

Mentors will meet with your cohort group at least once per month to discuss professional development progress, community project progress and to pull-through the training topic of the month. Mentors will regularly engage your cohort group via the private Facebook group in order to ask thought-provoking questions, answer questions, challenge your group and individuals and maintain connection with your group between meetings. A mentor will meet 1:1 with each participant at least 2 times throughout the 10-month program to discuss his or her development and provide coaching. Training Webinars Training webinars are designed to ensure pull-through of critical servant leadership themes throughout the program, to build on insights generated by the assessments done at the start and to ensure that you are equipped to implement your professional development plans.
