WEEKLY REFLECTION
CHRISTMAS NIGHT December 25, 2017
Isaiah 9: 1-6; Psalm 96; Titus 2: 11-14; Luke 2: 1-14
From today’s Gospel reading:
Mary wrapped the child in swaddling clothes
and laid him in a manger,
because there was no room for him in the inn.
Reflection by Jude Siciliano, OP:
If we are looking for God’s glory amid the world’s brilliance and power
we will not see it. The story invites us to look elsewhere for God’s shin-
ing forth – among poor and peripheral people. We need to look around
our world, past the mall music, extravagant displays and over-the-top
gifts. Fake glory.
So we ask ourselves:
= Where’s Christ being born and coming to us today?
= Is today’s "holy family" in a refugee camp waiting to be admitted
by a host country?
MASS INTENTIONS ~ Call the office to reserve a Mass intention date.

THANK YOU!....
Second Collection—All Christmas Masses
Please give generously to the Second Collection
for Villa Vianney. These funds help cover the cost of
the senior diocesan priests’ residence.
To everyone that made our Angel Tree a success again this year. Your generosity provided approximately 600 gifts for 150 children who may not have had anything under the tree this year. Catholic Charities is always amazed and grateful for the contributions of "time and treasure" that St Peter's dedi-cates to the "Gifts for God's Children" program. This is truly a work of stewardship and evangelization.
To our talented musicians - of ALL ages – for
enriching our Christmas Liturgies with their
gifts, and to those in the pew who joined in the
song! St. Peter Choir welcomes new members at
any time. Rehearsals resume Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7pm.
Cantors and instrumentalists are invited to share
their skills, too. It is through your efforts we continue
the rich heritage of musical prayer that is such an im-
portant part of our parish! Please contact Jane at
CHRISTMAS AT ST. AUGUSTINE
On December 15th an amazing Christmas dinner was
provided for the students and their families at St Augus-
tine Jubilee School. About 100 children and family
members attended the dinner. A HUGE Thank You to
the St Augustine weekly tutors, The Women's Guild, and
all of the St Peter parishioners who assisted in making
this a wonderful evening.
============================

group of like-minded, easy-going people in their 20s and
30s, then look no further. We offer so much and would
love for you to get involved. From small groups, softball,
Adoration and social events, we have something for peo-
ple in various parts of their faith journey. To find out
more contact Maggie Sauser at [email protected].
We can't wait to meet you!
Faith Formation On the Go Looking for ways to grow in your faith during a
busy 2018? St. Peter Church offers a variety of
scripture studies and adult faith formation offer-
ings throughout the year, but sometimes, we need
options that work at home, in the office, or in the
carpool line. Here are three great choices for faith
formation on the go:
CHRISTMAS BOOK:
PERFECTLY YOURSELF
This Christmas, each family is invited to
take home a free copy of Matthew Kelly’s
book Perfectly Yourself: Discovering God’s
Dream for You. A great resource for the new
year to help you grow spiritually, discover
your God-given talents, and strengthen
your faith so you can pursue God’s dream for your life.
This gift was made possible through the generous dona-
tion of a St. Peter family. Please pick up your copy after
Mass today, and have a blessed 2018!
JANUARY MINI-COURSE WITH BISHOP BARRON
This January, we will begin a new video mini-course from
Bishop Robert Barron. Our January series

= The most famous story in the world
= Are you a sheep or a goat?
This new series is perfect for those of us who are on-the-
go because you can watch at home, in the car or anywhere
you have access to a mobile device. If you sign up, you
will receive one email each week beginning Monday, Jan-
uary 8. To join, text “January” to 84576 or email Christi-
na at [email protected].

During this Christmas Season, the chalices and ciborium used for Mass are from our parish collection of antiquities.
The Antependium covering the front of the high altar was made by Mrs. Catherine Boyle, the great grandmother of Judge Joe Jones. She did not
have a pattern, only images of Catholic symbols popular at that time.
The Dominican priests and staff of St. Peter take this time to say “Thank You” for your generosity during the year and especially during this Holy Season.
A special thanks to Patty & Tim Anderson for their time and creative talents in beautifying the church. It is all done for the glory of the Lord.
