To determine the impact of economic growth or GDP in the Sri Lanka, a simple econometric framework was adopted by Abaid (2!"#, where in his st$dy the f$nction model which he deri%ed from prod$ction f$nction framework& Y = f [ L ,K ] 'here& denotes the estimated o$tp$t le%el of the Gross Domestic Prod$ct (GDP# per capita growth) The L denotes the amo$nt of labor force of the co$ntry and the * denotes the domesticall y fin anced capi tal stock+ pro ie d bt the Gross -apita l .or mat ion (G-.#) A constant technology ass$med for this model so that the increased in labor or capital will increase the o$tp$t) /n etension of the prod$ction f$nction, foreign financed capital (/#, eport (01# and import (/# are added into the model to determine their impact on the economic growth) Pawlos (22# mentioned that the import is considered will affect the economic growth which are di%ided into intermediate and capital good imports) 3alas$bramanyam (as cited in Abaid, 2!"# incl$de .D/ as the addition inp$t to labor and domestic capital in prod$ction f$nction since it4s the main so$rce of h$man capital and new technology for new de%eloping co$ntry) As mentioned by Anyamele (as cited in Abaid, 2!"#, eports are incl$ded in the prod$ction f$nction as more inp$t of macro are needed) The .D/ stock was ecl$ded from the Gross -apital .ormation as it incl$ded both domestic and foreign in%estment and to a%oid do$ble meas$rement (Abaid, 2!"# ^ GDP= f [ I , EX , ℑ ,LF ,GCF ] The prod $ction f$nction etended, ass$ming m$ltiple+linear e5$ation, an 6rdin ary Least S5$ared estimate which specified below& Y t = β 1 + β 2 X 2 + β 3 X 3 + β 4 X 4 + β 5 X 5 + β 6 X 6 + ε t 'here Y t 7 The estimated Gross Domestic Prod$ct per capita growth (ann$al 8#) X 2 7 The /n%estment in terms of Gross .ied -apital formation (8 of GDP#) X 3 7 The Labor force in terms of total (person#) X 4 7 The 0port of goods and ser%ices (8 of GDP#) X 5 7 The /mport of goods and ser%ices (8 of GDP#)
