In this regard, elaborate arrangements have been made at Port Blair to vaccinate the Health Care Workers. In the 1st Phase, a total of 4687 Health Care Workers across A&N Islands including Health Workers from private sector, along with ASHA workers and Anganwadi Workers will be vaccinated. The 1st phase vaccination will also cover the functionaries of ICMR, Port Blair & the Health Care Workers in Defence. The COVISHIELD vaccine has been allocated to A&N Islands by Govt. of India. A per regimen, 2 doses of COVISHIELD will be given to every beneficiary. The 2nd dose will be given 28 days after the 1st dose of vaccine. The effectiveness of the vaccine will begin 2 weeks after taking the 2nd dose. It is important COVID-19 vaccination drive to begin on Jan. 16 Elaborate arrangements made in A&N Islands to vaccinate about 4687 Health Care Workers in 1st Phase 2 doses of COVISHIELD to be administered to every beneficiary 100-200 people to be vaccinated in a day at AYUSH Hospital & School of Nursing be extended to other Islands subsequently. The vaccine is safe. In order to deal with any untoward situation, a team of specialists consisting of Public Health Specialist, Medical Specialist and Anesthetist will be deployed at the site with all emergency medication and equipment to deal with such situation. After inoculation of vaccine, the beneficiaries will be observed for half an hour at the session site to tackle any adverse event following immunization. After the 1st Phase, about 6000 Front Line Workers viz. Police, Sanitary workers and Revenue functionaries will be given the vaccine. The general population comprising of persons above 50 years age and persons below 50 years with co morbidity conditions will be covered for vaccination, thereafter, a press release from Directorate of Health Services said. Port Blair, Jan. 12 The Andaman & Nicobar Islands UTGST Department conducted a multi locational search and seizure operation on a chain of Hotels and their sister concerns, having their premises at locations in Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep. During the operation, it was found that these firms are huge tax defaulters and are indulging in several non-compliance issues varying from wrong availment of Input Tax Credit; Non-payment of UTGST Department conducts multi locational search & seizure operation on Hotels Tax default of Rs.3 Crore detected tax to the Government; and non-filing/delayed filing of the mandatory statutory returns without paying appropriate returns. Till now, tax default of Rs.3 Crore have been detected. The Department of UTGST, Andaman & Nicobar Islands appeals all such persons/firms to not to avail in-eligible tax credit, pay the tax collected to the Government as well as file their mandatory returns within due time to avoid any legal action against them under GST Act and also demand of tax along with appropriate interest and penalty against such tax payers will be raised and action for recovery of the same will be initiated accordingly. Port Blair, Jan. 12 A team of Food Safety Officers conducted surprise inspections of hotels, restaurants, dhabas and other food vending premises at Swaraj Dweep from Jan. 7 to 9. They inspected around 59 restaurants, 4 dhabas and 26 nos. of other food vending establishments and noticed major and minor violations of the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act, Rules and Regulations. against 13 restaurant operators for major violations and 15 restaurant operators have been served improvement notices for minor violations with the direction to rectify the defects within stipulated time period. Further, the team organized one awareness programme at Kalapathar Beach and one at Govind Nagar Port Blair, Jan. 12 With a view to promote film shooting in A&N Islands, a Film Shooting Policy has been approved by the Lt Governor, A&N Islands under which a single window clearance system has been developed. All types of permissions required for shooting films will be given within a timeframe of two weeks. The framing of the policy will go a long way in promoting the Islands as a film-friendly place and will witness a rise in shooting of films, feature films, TV series etc. The A&N Islands is known for its picturesque locations with the flora, fauna and natural beauty.This initiative will attract Film producer/production companies/houses from across the world to shoot Promoting A&N Islands as a 'Film-Friendly' UT Lt Governor approves Film Shooting Policy Single window clearance for film shooting permission their Feature Films, TV/ Web shows and series in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, by making the process of permissions easier and faster. This will in turn have a multiplier effect on other sectors like tourism, since films shot in the Islands will showcase the natural beauty of the Islands to the national and international audience, enticing them to visit the Islands. This policy provides for a common platform/ Single Window System which provides consolidated information and instruction/ guidelines issued by various Departments of Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Ministries, required for shooting of films. Apart from this, the entire process including Registration, filling of application form, uploading documents, submission of application and granting of shooting permission will be combined under the URL: andamantourism.gov.in/ filmshooting. As a result, interested Domestic and Foreign producer/ production companies can easily obtain shooting permission by registering themselves and submitting their details on above portal, following which, permission for shooting will be given within two weeks. The policy also provides for constitution of a c o m m i t t e e under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to decide about incentivizing the film shooting in the Islands. A network of Nodal Officers has Port Blair, Jan. 12 The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 5,63,77,00/- as Performance based Incentive Grant under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) on the basis of the third round of National Annual Rural Sanitation Survey (NARSS). This fund has been sanctioned by the Ministry to accelerate efforts to achieve ODF+ (Open Defecation Free Plus) status of the villages in the Islands by not only ensuring sanitation access to all but also taking efforts for the scientific management of solid and liquid waste. A meeting of the State Level Scheme Sanctioning Committee (SCSSC) was held under the chairmanship of Secretary, Rural Development, A&N Administration for finalization of the Action Plan for timely utilization of the World Bank Incentive Fund. Various activities have been identified to augment the present infrastructure and support requirements of the Gram Panchayats for better operationalization and functioning at the grass root for scientific solid waste management. Some of the noteworthy steps taken by the Department of Rural Development are:- * Considering the challenges being faced by the Gram Panchayats for door to door collection of segregated waste, the Department has placed orders for procurement of 29 e-carts with segregated bins for dry and wet-waste and attached tipping facility. * To ensure universal sanitation coverage, 367 additional eligible beneficiaries have been identified for assistance of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs).
