closure for ridge preservation and ridge augmentation

OPTIONAL HANDS ON WORKSHOPS thursday, march 31, 2016

sascha jovanovic DDS, MS 1 - 5 pm

Limited Attendance | Osteogenics Biomedical designates this activity for 4 continuing education credits.

This hands-on workshop on socket grafting and guided bone regeneration is designed for the

intermediate or advanced clinician. A critical viewing of biological and clinical aspects of socket grafting

techniques, including the key elements for implant success, will be presented. Participants will

understand principles of: clinical solutions to biological bone regeneration and socket grafting; optimal

implant positioning; the use of biomaterials with autogenous bone and barrier membranes; treatment

planning for esthetic cases and the development of gingival papilla support; and complications,

possibility of treatment, and prognosis. In the hands-on lab, utilizing a pig mandible, the focus will be on

the following: a posterior socket with a non-resorbable barrier membrane and no implant; a socket

missing the buccal plate with immediate implant and grafted with a resorbable collagen membrane and

allograft; and an immediate implant placement into a narrow-healed ridge, leaving a buccal dehiscence

that must be grafted in a GBR procedure using a resorbable collagen membrane and a bone graft.

Scenarios

daniel cullum DDS 1 - 5 pm

Limited Attendance | Osteogenics Biomedical designates this activity for 4 continuing education credits.

This hands-on workshop on ridge expansion is for the advanced clinician. Participants will learn that

bone manipulation can enhance bone quality and improve alveolar dimensions with ridge expansion

(RE). Participants will understand that a vascular “bone flap” is developed in RE to restore the functional

proportions of the alveolus with simultaneous implant insertion; that RE utilizes the healing potential of

bone like an extraction site; that modified osteotome techniques o«er a minimally invasive approach in

the management of moderate horizontal maxillary defects; and that Cone Beam CT imaging is

important in evaluation and technique selection. Using lecture, video, and hands-on formats, using a rib

bone, this workshop will teach participants the application of RE including flap designs, progressive skill

development, and CT diagnosis for prevention of complications.FEE: $695
