Page 1: Registration Form (continued) Conference at a Glance PAID ...archive.familypromise.org/files/10_National_Conference_Brochure_w… · Come explore Orlando’s incredible amusement

Dear Friends,Please join us for our 10th National Conference in Orlando, Florida, from April 30th

through May 2nd. The theme is Dare to Dream, representing the hopes and

aspirations of our guest families as well as the staff and volunteers who serve

them. And what better place to plan for the future than Orlando—the place

where dreams come true!

As we celebrate the milestone opening of our 150th Affiliate, the Conference will

present the chance to reflect on past successes and plan for new growth. It will

offer a full range of activities to suit every need—from workshops, roundtables,

and expert presentations, to more informal opportunities to catch up with old

friends and meet new ones, sharing best practices and learning fresh strategies.

A full slate of workshops is scheduled. Funding—always such a critical issue—will

be addressed from landing major gifts to event planning. We’ll explore strategies

to attract new board members, raise your Affiliate’s profile, and the nuts and bolts

of fiscal management. Are you on Facebook? We’ll show you how to use social

media as an effective tool for promotion and fundraising.

We are thrilled to announce that our Conference keynote speaker is Dr. Christine

Pohl, Professor of Church in Society, Asbury Theological Seminary. She is the

author of Making Room: Recovering Hospitality as a Christian Tradition, which

explores the role of community in strengthening and sustaining family—the heart

of our own Interfaith Hospitality Networks. Following the keynote speech will be a

plenary session on “The Continuum of Care: Family Promise’s Role in Unifying and

Structuring Local Services to Meet the Needs of Homeless Families.” This will

feature a panel of experts including a representative from HUD, a Continuum of

Care coordinator and executive directors of an Affiliate successfully accessing

funds from the Continuum of Care.

A very gifted musician, Ken Medema, will provide Friday night’s entertainment.

This will be an interactive experience—Ken is known for his ability to improvise

songs from personal stories offered by the audience. And yet another feature will

come at Sunday lunch, when Rev. Wintley Phipps of US Dream Academy will

honor us with a keynote address, featuring his own unique blend of speech and

song. Rev. Phipps’s fame is wide-ranging, as he has performed before American

Presidents, Mother Teresa and the Vatican.

Dare to Dream weekend promises to be our most informative, engaging and

unforgettable Conference yet. I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Karen Olson

Sincerely,

Karen Olson

Sincerely,

Karen Olson
