Nursing requires a positive attitude in working with people from different age groups and from different cultures and backgrounds. Because the field of healthcare is always changing and the knowledge base is ever expanding, nurses must make a commitment to be life-long learners. There are continually many opportunities in healthcare.

Nurses may find jobs in almost any city. But rural communities especially need nurses to work in a variety of settings utilizing many skills. Colorado Mountain College graduates have secured nursing positions in long-term care facilities, obstetrics, emergency rooms, medical/surgical units and physicians’ offices to name a few.

Computer competency is strongly recommended if you are seeking admission into the ADN program. All admitted students must have reliable transportation to attend clinical sites which may be more than 500 miles from campus. The Colorado Mountain College clinical sites are located throughout the state of Colorado. As a student in the ADN program, you will be required to complete all courses in sequence and maintain a grade of “C” or higher in all course work. While completing the ADN program you may apply to Bachelor of Science Nursing programs in Colorado that follow the Colorado Articulation guidelines. If you have previous college coursework in nursing, or have detailed questions about a nursing career, please contact a Colorado Mountain College counselor for advising.

Students are accepted into the nursing program on a selective basis. Before applying to the program, you may start your education by taking core curriculum and science courses at Colorado Mountain College.

You must complete the admission requirements before you will be admitted into the Nursing Program. We suggest you complete the general education requirements before enrolling in the Nursing Program, as well.
