What is a Little Free Library?

In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring it back. You can, too!

Why have one?

Our school system was looking for ways to reach out into the community – during the school year and during the summer.

How do I get one?

We proposed ours as an Eagle Scout Project:

We also have a LFL inside our school library for friends with long overdue books

How flexible is it?

Other options?

Hall, cafeteria…

•Wagon•Order pre-made•Wheel barrow

• Recycle furniture

• Phone booth!• ?

Old newspaper box

Where do I get the books?

• Book drive by high school students

• Book drive at your school

• Retiring teachers• A call for gently used

books from your networks (neighborhood, church, clubs)

How do I store them?

I separate them by grade-level and store them in boxes. When I need some, I just reach in the box.
