ECOWAS regulations
From July 9-11, 2018, CORAF support theorganization of the 4th Regional Committee for Seedsand Seedlings for West Africa (CRSPAO) ordinaryannual meeting.
CORAF supported the participation of 23 individuals.WAAPP covered the cost of the resource personwho facilitated the event.
A roadmap for improving the implementation of agri-inputs regional regulations and the seed trade was also developed
Sustainable funding mechanism
4 countries have reported new achievement: Mali, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo
A meeting between the lawyer of the ministry of agriculture andstakeholders was held and recommended that the steering committee ofthe fund (FNA) clear the proposal before submission to the minister'sboard for approval.

NigeriaARCN reform bill presently at the National Assembly has passed throughsecond reading
SenegalThe report on the setting of a unique fund for sustainable funding of agriculture services and rural credit was validated and submitted to the Ministry of agriculture.

Sub-regional project
Project closed in December 31st, 2017: Capacity Development of Cashew Value Chain Actors in West-Africa (ACi-CD) stakeholders
✓Project Completion was developed in English,French;
✓about 4,300 direct beneficiaries ( 12% beingwomen);
✓10 technologies were generated and disseminated;✓200 ha was covered by the improved technologies;✓39 students (45% of women) were coached for
their Masters;✓5 Scientifics articles published;✓The results of the project can be seen on

Sub-regional project: Ongoing
Soil fertility project-FERTORAO (Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali and Senegal)
Results of the first year of evaluation of the selected organic
fertilizers show improved performance in terms of crop yields
compared to the control plots, irrespective of commodities and
countries.
Joint field visits (researchers, providers of organics fertilizers,
CORAF) in Senegal (July 11-12 & October 11-12, 2018) and
Ghana ( October 25-29th ).
Data collection for the 2nd agricultural Campaign is ongoing in implementing countries

The Capacitating Stakeholders in Using Climate Information for Enhanced Resilience in the Agricultural Sector in West Africa (CaSCIERA-WA): Benin, Guinea, Niger and Togo
Regional training were organized on:
• data merging of 19 participants
• historical climate data analysis of 24 participants
• awareness in Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture-PICSA of 27 specialist
• use of SARRA-H and SARRA-O tools for operational monitoring of crops and harvests estimation
In country training were facilitated on:
• PICSA, 117 ToT and 71 farmers were touched

The meteorology of Togo produced:

As result of PICSA training in Kara:

Response to Fall Armyworm (FAW) proliferation in West Africa
The task-force (TF) established on No. 17th: Maize, Roots and Tubers, Dry cereals NCoS, IITA and CORAF representatives
The TF has developed a proposal to

with the Maize NCoS.

An an international training course on “Conservation Agriculture and Scale Appropriate Mechanization" for West Africa was organized by BISA, Ladhowal from March 5-16, 2018
About 90% of the participants were highly satisfied with the conceptualknowledge and quality of content provided to them
Representatives of Republic of Guinea has already initiated thecommunication and process to import few CA equipment from India.
In collaboration with FAO, CORAF has sponsored a group of 5 West andCentral Africa specialist to attend The African Congress on ConservationAgriculture held in Johannesburg from October 9-12th
Following the training, an action plan consisting of setting upConservation Agriculture demonstration plots in Benin, Burkina Faso,Guinea, Niger and Togo for a pilot period of 3 years.➔ $US 435,471

CORAF will support the travel costs while and each country will cover subsistence
expenses and local transportation of the visitors.
