BRESL Project

BRSEL is funded by GEF with the total amount of USD$ 7.8 Million.

Project started in February 2009 and the project duration is 5 years.

The participating countries include Bangladesh, China, Indonesia,

Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Products covered by BRSEL: Refrigerators; Room air conditioners;

Electric motors; Ballasts for FLs; Electric fans; Compact fluorescent

lamps; Rice cookers.

Enhanced awareness on EESL programs and in the use of

EE products in the countries in the region;

Establishment of technical working groups for target

products to conduct technical research and provide

technical supports;

financing, institutionalization, implementation of EESL

Goals:

To develop and promote cost-effective adoption of EESL;

To share the resources and achievement;

To facilitate and enhance the regional cooperation and

harmonization of EESL programs.

Recommendations

China and the USA cooperate to promote regional cooperation and

harmonization on EESL in APEC regional:

• Provide technical assistance to the countries in developing the EESL

programs;

• Share resources, achievements and best practices;

• Provide expert trainings and scale up information dissemination;

• Seeking funding form potential donors.

Jointly enhance the cooperation with APEC/EWG/EGEE&C;

Develop regional energy efficiency standard and labeling network

(REESLN), in leveraging US experiences and China practices;

Enhance harmonization and bilateral mutual-recognition of testing

protocols, performance standards and labeling programs.
