Transcript of Reflections from the World Expo in Shanghai, China
The World Expo 2010 in Shanghai
was intended to show
the future urban world
to the people of China.
By 2006,
illiteracy among the young in China
had dropped to 3.58 percent.
In 2006
134 000 Chinese students
were studying outside China.
In 2008
Chinese researchers total 1.36 million,
ranking second in the word
By the end of 2007,
the basic old-age insurance scheme
had 201.37 million members.
China would not develop without the world
and the global prosperity will not be possible
without the prosperity of China.
These images are dedicated to the unknown persons
I met in the streets of Shanghai.
They shared with me their happiness and pride for the progress of China.
