As it is not possible later to deliver material of the exact same colour or structure, these samples serve to allow follow-up deliveries to be matched as closely as possible.

Please note that the colour / structure of your furniture coverings may differ to the sample due to the effect of the sun, heating or other environmental factors.

If you have a complaint

Please always send us this material sample (either through your dealer or service provider). Place the sample on your furniture first to check if it still has the same colour as the cover on your product. In the event of differen-ces, please assess this based on the following criteria:

Welcome. Your furniture is moving in!

1.1 PositioningPlease ensure that you position this piece of furniture in a place suitable for its use so that:

l upholstered items are protected from direct light and sunlight or intense heat to prevent it from fading and to minimise the possibility of the covering materials drying outl there is enough space to use and operate the function elements l good air circulation is guaranteed l the power cable and electrical wires cannot be damagedl no noise is created if the floor is uneven (carpets, sloping floors etc.). Please use felt pads under the furniture feet to compensate for uneven surfaces.

1.2 UnpackingTo ensure the covers are not damaged, never use sharp objects to open the packaging. Remove the adhesive tapes on the plastic by hand.

1.3 TransportAlways ensure that two or three people are on hand to transport the furniture. Do not lift the item via the side parts or the head/ foot parts. Do not push or slide the item; instead lift it carefully, from the base. Correct transportation is

Page 5: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 5

guaranteed by lifting, holding onto the baseframe.

1.4 Assembly - Element connectorsPlace the elements next to each other in the position where the piece of furniture is to stand and then insert the individual elements into each other. Lift the elements and then press down so that the element connectors hook into position. All element connectors must be connected to prevent differences in height. After hooking them into position, press the elements down firmly. - Insert connectors

To connect, fold down the insert connector at right angles to the piece of furniture and slide the elements tightly together until you hear the connector fittings click into position and there are no gaps between the upholstered elements. To release the connection, lift the element upwards out of the insert connector and move the element to the side. The upholstered furniture should not be moved as long as the individual elements are connected to each other!

Page 6: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 6

1.5 Fluffing up / Alignment of the upholsteryUpholstered furniture may suffer some deformation during transportation. Using your hands align and beat out the deformations in the upholstery and cushions.

Also, doing this regularly maintains its appearance, softness, elasticity and form for much longer.

2.1 General information about useThe stability of your furniture is guaranteed by the wooden or metal frame that has been designed so that it can cope with the loads exerted when the product is used as intended.

l Ensure that nobody jumps or bounces on the product.

l Never fall down heavily onto the product.

l Do not sit on backrests or armrests or any other function elements.

l Do not pull or slide the product, lift it if you need to move it.

During positioning, transportation or relocation of the furniture, ensure that neither the feet nor the casters are tilted to one side and

Page 7: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 7

that they stand straight, otherwise they may bend or break. In the case of upholstered furniture with a bed function, good airing of the upholstery ensures that no mould develops. It is not recommended that the bed function be used on a daily basis.

2.2 Functions All function elements require a certain amount of play. Therefore be aware that depending on the type of cover and its thickness, production-related gaps can form and slight dimensional changes are unavoidable. After using the functional elements, it may be necessary to readjust the upholstery to smooth out any irregularities or creases.

Please note: Due to the function element, it is normal for rippling or creasing to occur in the cover.

Check the fitting hinges from time to time to ensure that they are clean. We recommend general cleaning of the hinges. Because function furniture is subject to regular movement processes, metal abrasion can gather under the furniture. Please remove this regularly with a vacuum cleaner or by wiping. When operating the functional elements slight mechanical noises are unavoidable and not a cause for complaint. Changes in weight distrubution can also cause slight noises.

4.1 Use related differences in seat firmnessDuring use your upholstered furniture undergoes over time a development known as spring deflection. During use, the upholstery adapts to your body weight and changes as a result of this.

This is why it is essential to use your upholstered furniture evenly, so that the seat firmness does not give in one place. Once upholstered furniture has been spring-deflected, the upholstery remains virtually unchanged from then on.

4.2 Design related differences in seat firmnessWith corner elements, sofa beds, etc. the different superstructures used depending on the model design do not always provide the same degree of seat firmness.

4.3 Loose seat cushionsThe word „loose“ means that the seat cushions can move during use and they therefore have to be returned to their original position. The advantage here is that with the cushions being all the same size, they are interchangeable and you can ensure even usage.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Page 11: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 11

4.4 Loose back cushionsWith loose back cushions it is essential that they are plumped back into shape after every use, to give them back their original form.

4.5 Rippling – natural and by designA certain degree of rippling is a normal feature with upholstery covers, caused by the elasticity of the cover itself either due to production or as a result of use.

4.6 Colour / structure variancesColour tolerances between the purchased sample in the showroom and the delivered object are possible. This is especially true in the case of natural fibres and leather. Due to the dyeing process, no liability can be assumed for absolute colour and structure correspondence.

4.7 ArmrestsThe arm rests of upholstered furniture have two distinct functions: First of all they serve as a support for the arms and secondly they are a decisive feature in the visual appearance and design of the piece of furniture.

Depending on the design of the arm rest, they are not conceived to carry the weight of a person. For this reason, never sit on an arm rest.

Page 12: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 12

4.8 Seat sheenDepending on the direction of the pile, in certain lighting the material appears either lighter or darker. This makes it appear as though there are colour variations in the cover. The reason for this iridescence is that the covering fabrics are generally processed with the nap or pile going in one direction. With a corner element for example, depending on where it is positioned the light is reflected differently off it. This is a typical feature of the fabric.

4.9 PillingDuring use the threads of fabric (particularly chenille threads) can fluff up and form small knots on the surface, like on a woollen jumpers. These are simply tangled threads that depending on the amount of use, work themselves out of the cover fabric. However they more often occur from contact with other types of thread (e. g. clothing or woollen blankets). Due to the anchor threads these knots or pills become more or less firmly attached to the cover material. The pills can be removed with a fabric shaver. The removal does not damage the fabric or affect its durability.

4.10 OdourNew products have a distinct smell initially. This is a generally known fact and can take a few weeks or months to dissipate depending on the material and composition. The intensity of the smell will lessen over time as the product is used depending on the room climate,

Page 13: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 13

season, temperature fluctuations, airing, amount and duration of use, personal perception etc. The smell is not harmful. (Stiftung Warentest). Some natural products such as leather, solid wood etc. will retain their own typical smell. Here you can have your trade partner issue a no objection certificate.

4.11 Electrostatic chargingFurniture materials and other, usually synthetic materials have natural conductivity and are only able to absorb a certain amount of moisture. Electrostatic charging primarily occurs in room climates that are very dry, especially in winter months, in combination with synthetic materials e.g. carpets, textiles, textile upholstery covers, cushions, blankets etc. In these cases, the specifications for an ideal room climate need to be observed, e.g. by increasing the air humidity.

4.12 PetsGeneral care is required here. Pets with claws or beaks can cause serious and irreparable damage. Pet hair, especially cat hair, is very difficult to remove from textiles. An effective protection measure here would be to cover your upholstered furniture with a suitable material (covers, blankets etc.) to prevent possible damage or soiling.

Page 14: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 14

4.13 UPHOLSTERY „Firm“Upholstery technique where the cover is fitted very tightly to avoid creasing (pre-tensioned upholstery). Design or model-related features e.g. on curves; gathers are design related.

4.14 UPHOLSTERY „Loose“A looser and softer upholstery technique in which model-related or specific designs allow the creasing of the covers and sitting imprints are typical for the product. The apparent creases in quilts and cushions are due to the design.

4.15 UPHOLSTERY „Very loose“A very loose upholstery technique which typically has a very soft surface. The covers are already creased on delivery because this is part of the design.

4.16 Chamber cushionsSome furniture suites in our collection have high-quality chamber cushions in the seat and/or for the back. The filling material here is kept within the cushions in chambers so that it cannot be displaced. Depending on the type and thickness of the covering fabric, the chambers or the filling material may be visible to a greater or lesser degree. To prevent the filling material from becoming compressed, fluff up these seat and back cushions after use - the same way you fluff up your pillow in bed.

Page 15: REFERENCE SAMPLE PRODUCT PASS

PAGE 15

4.17 Light-fastness You have probably noticed this with clothing items - the fabric tends to fade after a while, as a result of washing, but also due to sunlight or halogen spots. The same also occurs with upholstery materials and leather covers. Therefore, never place upholstered furniture directly in front of a window. Protect your suite from direct sunlight and also ensure that it does not stand directly below halogen spots. In this way you can ensure that the colour of your upholstered furniture remains beautiful and intense.

4.18 FlooringDon't forget to use protective pads (e.g. of felt or plastic) to avoid scratching or other damage to your flooring.

4.19 Visible woodThe life history of a tree is reflected in characteristic features such as the grain, structure and colour.

These natural growth features make all furniture made of real wood unique with an inimitable appearance which is why absolute colour and structure uniformity cannot be guaranteed.

5.1 Routine cleaningLike all other materials used on a daily basis, furniture coverings also need to be maintained and cleaned regularly because theyare also exposed to constant dust and contact soiling. As a rule, you should not let the dirt build up as this will make cleaning more difficult and the dirt may penetrate the cover materials. Correct cleaning and care of your furniture will help to retain the value of your furniture.

5.1.1 FabricWe recommend regular vacuum cleaning with a special upholstery nozzle on the lowest suction level in the direction of the nap. Setting the suction level too high can lead to fibres working their way out of the internal upholstery. From time to time, wipe over your furniture with a slightly damp cloth to retain the elasticity of the fibres, especially when radiators are in use in rooms with central heating systems.

5.1.2 Artificial leatherYou should wipe the furniture regularly with a soft damp cloth. We strongly advise against using too much water! We recommend using our special care kit that is designed for use on artificial leather to maintain your furniture. You can order this care product appropriate for your cover material using the order card enclosed in the information envelope or directly online at: www.3c-care.com(see reference samples in the information envelope).

5.1.3 LeatherLeather is easy and undemanding where care is concerned, but does not take kindly to the use of aggressive products. Never use stain remover, solvents, turpentine, shoe polish or other unsuitable products.

5.1.4 Care kitTo ensure that the high-quality leather remains beautiful, you will need to clean and maintain the product regularly. We have care kits specially developed for our products. This not only freshens up the visual appearance but extends the service life of your upholstered furniture, improving its typical leather characteristics. You can order the care product appropriate for your cover material using the order card enclosed in the information envelope or directly online at: www.3c-care.com(see reference samples in the information envelope).

So as to maintain your ability to claim on the guarantee, leather-covered upholstered furniture must as a precaution be treated at least twice a year with the original long term, deep-action protection kit. Should you fail to carry out this protective care routine your guarantee claims will be void. Please refer to the letter that accompanies the reference samples at the end of the product pass for all customer order-specific information about your cover material.

5.2 Cleaning and stain removalThe removal of stains should be left solely to an upholstery cleaning expert. (Contact information is to be found in the Yellow Pages for your region). We would like to stress once again that we do not recognise damage caused as a result of incorrect stain removal and that will lead to the guarantee becoming void.

6.1 DisposalIn line with our commitment to the environment, we would ask you to please ensure that after the end of its service life, your furniture is disposed of correctly! Special waste (e.g. batteries, operating parts, electronic parts) should be placed in the designated collection systems (for more information contact the local public authorities). The packaging material used when your furniture was delivered can also be recycled. Please dispose of this material separately according to type via the designated collection systems.
