1. Introduction Please be sure to read this document before using TgAnest.

Store this document in a safe place where it can be referred to at any time.

This document is a software reference manual. It describes how to use TgAnest and explains the individual windows. Please read this reference manual thoroughly to familiarize you with the contents and ensure correct usage.

2. Notes ・ The contents of this reference manual are subject to change without notice following product

improvements.

・ The greatest efforts have been taken when compiling the details in this reference manual, but it may not be possible to issue corrections immediately even if errors or omissions are discovered.

3. Precautions ・ This software is intended to be used in conjunction with the testing machine. Be sure to read the

instruction manual for the testing machine before operating.

・ If the testing machine malfunctions due to setting incorrect test conditions, press the EMERGENCY (emergency stop) switch on the testing machine.

・ If the software displays a message urging you to stop the testing machine, follow the instructions given in the message.

・ Proportional and integral coefficients must be set if testing force control, creep control (PI used), or the testing force hold function (PI used) are used. The crosshead may move at an unexpected test speed if the settings are not entered correctly. Take adequate care not to damage the load cell, test piece, or other parts. If the testing machine operates abnormally, press the EMERGENCY (emergency stop) switch on the testing machine immediately.

4. Scope of Software License This software refers to both the corresponding software (TgAnest software and accompanying data) and documentation (such as instruction manuals).

・ This software may be used with one specified testing machine.

・ Copies may not be retained if all rights to this software are transferred. Transfer of this software in its entirety (all components, media, and documentation) shall be deemed as agreement by the person making the transfer with the items described in the scope of this license.

・ If this software has been upgraded, transferral must include all previous versions together with this software.

・ This software may not be rented, leased, copied, modified, amended, reverse-engineered, reverse-compiled, or reverse-assembled in part or in its entirety. Similarly, such actions may not be carried out by third parties.

7. Starting the Software

Double-click the [TgAnest] icon on the desktop.

or

Click Windows [Start] and select [All Programs] ⇒ [MinebeaMitsumi] ⇒ [TgAnest].

The [Testing Machine Type] will appear the first time the software is started. * The window will appear also on subsequent startups if no license key has been input. * The window will appear each time the software is started if more than one testing machine model has been registered.

Set the model of the testing machine to be used.

The [License] will appear the first time the software is started. * The window will appear also on subsequent startups if no license key has been input.

Enter the license key in the corresponding input box for the test mode purchased.

If you have purchased more than one test mode, enter all of the respective license keys in the input boxes for the corresponding test modes.

The license key is provided on the rear of the CD case.

If you accidentally click [Cancel], restart the software and enter the license key(s) once more. See below for details of how to enter the license key(s).

TgAnest starts up, and the [Main Menu] appears.

The following message will appear if communication with the testing machine is not established.

[Launching the software without communication with the testing machine]

To launch the software without connecting to the testing machine, click [No].

The following message appears.

Clicking [OK] displays the [Main Menu] in offline mode.

* If communication with the testing machine becomes necessary, the software must be restarted.

[Launching the software while communicating with the testing machine]

Confirm that the communication cable is connected, and click [Yes].

The [Main Menu] is displayed once communication is established.

The following message will appear if communication is not established even after re-checking.

Clicking [OK] forcibly switches to offline mode and displays the [Main Menu].

* If communication with the testing machine becomes necessary, the software must be restarted.

8. System Settings With the [Main Menu] displayed, click [System Settings].

The system settings are set for the first time the software is started up.

The settings should be modified subsequently as necessary; for example, if optional items are added.

The [System Setting] is displayed.

8-1. Machine & COM Click the [Machine & COM] tab.

8-1-1. Testing Machine

(1) P/N

The model is displayed for the testing machine to be operated using this software.

Clicking [Add/Del] displays the [P/N Add/Del].

Select the model of the testing machine to be used.

If multiple models are selected, the [Testing Machine Type] will be displayed on startup to set the models for the testing machines to be operated.

(2) Capacity

Set the capacity of the testing machine to be operated using this software.

Example) If the testing machine model is TGI-10kN, set the capacity to [10kN].

(3) Type

Set the type of the testing machine to be operated using this software.

Select either Normal Type or Upper Tension Type.

(4) Testing force special display

Set to the same value as the load units setting (F-051) on the testing machine.

If the setting is different to the one on the testing machine, there is a possibility of damage to the testing machine or load cell.

Testing force special display

Description

Standard display Set when the value of F-051 on the testing machine is "0". Special display Set when the value of F-051 on the testing machine is "1".

This is not displayed for models TGE and TGI.

8-1-2. Set COM (Communication Condition Settings)

(1) Port

Set the COM port connected to the testing machine.

[Port auto setting function]

This automatically searches for the port connected to the testing machine if the port number set differs from the COM port actually connected to the testing machine. If the port is found, the connection is established and the setting is switched to that port number.

(2) Data Bit Length

Fixed at 8. It cannot be changed.

(3) Baudrate

Set the baud rate that is set on the testing machine.

See below for details on the range of settings.

8-2. Option Click the [Option] tab.

8-2-1. Digital Caliper

Digital calipers are calipers that display the dimension measured numerically.

Some digital calipers can be connected via RS-232C.

If importing measured dimensions to TgAnest using an RS-232C connection, set the COM port to which the digital calipers are connected.

Requires Mitutoyo IT-007R.

If digital calipers are not used, set to [OFF].

8-2-2. Get Origin

This is a function for testing with absolute displacements using an origin detection jig.

(1) Get Origin

To detect the origin using an origin detection jig, set to [ON].

If the origin detection function is not used, set to [OFF].

(2) Jig height

Set the height of the origin detection jig.

Make sure the jig height is entered correctly, as this forms the datum for the origin detection function.

* Set the height as indicated in the inspection data sheet for testing machine origin determination, as included with the origin detection jig.

8-2-3. LEE (lengthwise extensometer)

Set the correction values required when using the extensometer, model LEE series.

* These values are recorded on the results sheet at the time the model LEE series was purchased.

(1) Upper encoder pulse constant (Upper Const)

Correction value for the upper encoder.

(2) Lower encoder pulse constant (Lower Const)

Correction value for the lower encoder.

(3) Counter Board Setting

Enter the device name of the counter board used.

For instructions on checking the device name, refer to the counter board instruction manual.

8-2-4. External Input

This setting is required when using analog input functions.

(1) Filter Setting Value

Sets the number of moving-average samples.

(2) AD Board Setting

Enter the device name of the analog input board used.

For instructions on checking the device name, refer to the analog input board instruction manual.

8-3. Data Processing Software Click the [Data Processing Software] tab.

8-3-1. Execute Key

(1) Execute Key

Enable or disable the execute key.

If Execute Key is set to [ON], a prompt will be given to enter the execute key in order to register or delete Quick Start, to delete test conditions or report files, to edit test conditions, or to overwrite reports. These operations cannot be performed unless the correct execute key is entered.

(2) Input the execute key

Clicking [Set Key] displays the [Execute Key].

Set the execute key to between four and sixteen alphanumeric characters, and then click [OK] to set the execute key. (The initial value is 0000.)

Clicking [Cancel] cancels the execute key entered.

If you forget the execute key, the execute key can be reissued by setting it again on this screen.

(3) User Accounts only

If the execute key is enabled, the Execute Key input screen will appear only when the operator clicks the [Regist] button.

8-3-2. Language

Set whether the software display is shown in English or Japanese.

Japanese: Japanese display

English: English display

The following message will appear if the setting is changed.

The software must be restarted in order to refresh the display details in the new language set.

The original language setting will remain active until the software is restarted.

Note: Test conditions and report files created in a particular language will only be available in the language set at the time they were created.

8-3-3. Gravity

The gravitational acceleration set here is used when converting from SI units to MKS units, or vice versa, within the software.

8-3-4. Marker DataFile Output

Enable or disable raw data output of marker point information.

8-3-5. Default Unit for Break Elongation Input

Sets the unit displayed by default on the screen for entering a value for the break elongation analysis item.

8-3-6. Data Format of Previous Model

Raw data files (files with a file extension of .S1T) exported from previous MinebeaMitsumi data-processing software (SR series) can be imported for use in TgAnest.

Because the raw data from the SR series is exported in various formats, depending on the model or version, it must be converted to a format that can be imported into TgAnest.

This conversion information is prepared by the "Data Format of Previous Model" function.

8-3-7. User Management

Register users authorized to log in.

Specify user currently logged in in the [User Select] screen displayed at startup.

8-3-8. Version

Clicking [Show] displays the [Version].

When making inquiries about the software, check the software model and version on this screen, and inform the MinebeaMitsumi representative.

8-3-9. License

Enter the license keys for this software.

Clicking [Regist] displays the [License].

Enter the license key in the corresponding input box for the test mode purchased.

If you have purchased more than one test mode, enter all of the respective license keys in the input boxes for the corresponding test modes.

9. Main Menu All operations using this software are accessed from the [Main Menu].

The [Main Menu] consists of the [Start Test], [Create New Condition], [Edit Condition], [Report], [System Settings], and [Exit] buttons, together with the Quick start list.

9-1. [Start Test] Button Click [Start Test] to start testing using an existing test conditions file.

The [Test Condition List] is displayed.

9-7. Quick Start This is used to register or delete test conditions for Quick Start, or to start tests already registered in Quick Start.

10. Creating New Test Conditions This section describes the procedures for creating new test conditions.

1) With the [Main Menu] displayed, click [Create New Condition].

2) Clicking [Create New Condition] displays the [Test Condition Create Window].

The following tests can be performed depending on the test mode.

3) After setting

・ To save the conditions set, click [Save Condition]. The following message will appear once the test conditions have been saved.

[OK]: Proceeds to the [Main Window], which forms the test screen using the settings saved.

[Cancel]: Returns to the [Test Condition Create Window].

・ To return to the [Main Menu], click [Main Menu].

Note: The conditions will not be saved if [Main Menu] is clicked before clicking [Save Condition].

11. Editing Existing Test Conditions This section describes the procedures for editing an existing test conditions file.

1) With the [Main Menu] displayed, click [Edit Condition].

2) The [Test Condition List] is displayed.

3) Clicking [Edit Condition] displays the [Test Condition Create Window].

Click the condition item to be altered, and set the individual items on the screen displayed.

4) After changing

・ To save the conditions altered, click [Save Condition].

The following message will appear once the test conditions have been saved.

[OK]: Proceeds to the [Main Window], which forms the test screen using the settings saved.

[Cancel]: Returns to the [Test Condition Create Window].

・ To return to the [Test Condition List], click [Back to ListWindow].

Note: The conditions will not be saved if [Back to ListWindow] is clicked before clicking [Save Condition].

17-1-5. Sampling Mode

Selects the sampling mode.

Sampling mode Description Standard Mode Enables standard mode test control setting.

There are no restrictions on the number of data items. The fastest data sampling interval is 10 msec (50 msec for TG). The maximum data sampling interval is 36 000 sec (10 hours).

High-speed Mode Enables high-speed mode test control setting with sampling at a minimum interval of 1 msec (1.25 msec for TG or TGJ models). The maximum data sampling interval is 150 msec. The maximum number of data items is 30 000. The displacement transducer cannot be used.

* The sampling mode can be set only for single testing. In all other modes, standard mode is fixed as the sampling mode.

17-1-6. Origin Detection

Set as follows to detect the origin.

・ Enable [Get Origin] in [System Setting]. (See "8-2-2 Get Origin".)

・ Set the test type to [Compression].

* Origin detection is not available for [Tension], [3 Point Bend], [4 Point Bend], [Peel], or [Flexible Correction].

* See below for details of the origin detection procedures.

Select whether to detect the origin using an origin detection jig.

If the number of cumulative data items for analysis results in the file with (_999) appended exceeds 10 000, a message will appear, after which files will be output from 10 001 on. Cumulative data for analysis results will be added to the file with the largest number for (_###) appended to the file name.

Overwrite The first file output will be assigned the file name entered in the setting box. If the number of cumulative data items for analysis results in a single file exceeds 10 000, the data in the file is cleared, after which output proceeds from the first data item.

(5) Pass/Fail Format

Sets pass/fail format.

This is not displayed in cases other than analysis results and accumulation.

With * For pass/fail set for each analysis item, if the analysis results are outside the range, (*) is displayed to the right of the analysis results.

Sets the position at which the displacement transducer or extensometer used is removed.

17-3. Testing (Single) This sets the testing machine operation settings for single testing.

Single testing may be performed in standard or high-speed modes.

Standard mode has the following features.

(1) Digital caliper input box

Enter the value in the digital caliper input box, select a desired cell in the test piece dimension input box, and click [Set]. The results calculated using the [Calc Type] for the number of values specified by the [Input Num] are displayed in the test piece dimension input box cell selected.

(2) Input Num

Selects the number of inputs for the corresponding calculation.

The value can be selected in the range 1 to 6.

(3) Calc Type

Selects the calculation method.

(1) Overlay

Up to 200 plots can be displayed on a graph simultaneously (excluding average curves).

To enable overlay plotting, select the check box.

(2) Inching Value

The inching value can be set if the check box is selected for overlay plotting.

The value set here is used to offset each overlay plot in the X-axis direction.

The units for the inching value will be the same as the X-axis units.

(3) Average Curve

Displays an average curve for the overlay plotted curves at the end of the overlay plot.

17-7-6. Trend Graph

This can be set when the test mode is set to [Cycle].

Displays the analysis results for each cycle in the [Ana. Item] as a line graph (Y-axis: Analysis results, X-axis: Number of cycles).

17-8. Report Creates the layout, input items, and other details of reports.

17-8-1. Report Designer

This interface is used to create and display reports.

By default, the design area is A4 size and vertical orientation.

The design area is automatically expanded to two pages if an item you place on it extends off the first page. To restore the area to a single page, move the item again so that it fits on the page. Multipage reports can be designed.

* The report design may change when printed. The vertical size of test pieces or analysis results is adjusted to suit the number of test pieces.

Text of your choice can be entered for items with blank fields.

For items labeled "(Auto Insert)," values set in test conditions are printed automatically. Regarding the test date, the date when the first test will be finished is entered automatically.

(3) [Test Piece] Button

Clicking [Test Piece] places a test piece item in the Report Designer.

Only one item can be arranged in Report Designer.

(4) [Analyze Result] button

Clicking [Analyze Result] places an analysis results item in the Report Designer.

Only one item can be arranged in Report Designer.

(5) [Graph] Button

Clicking [Graph] places a graph item in the Report Designer.

Multiple items can be arranged in the Report Designer.

Regarding graphs to print, specify the graph number in the report properties.

(6) [Image] Button

Places an image file in any of the following formats in the Report Designer: .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .ico, .emf, .wmf, .tiff, or .tif.

Clicking [Image] displays a file selection dialog box.

(7) [Comment] Button

Clicking [Comment] places a text box in the Report Designer.

Double-clicking the comment text box allows it to be edited.

AUTO CANCEL Auto cancel is operating. This is not displayed for TG or TGJ models.

SUSPEND The machine is paused during testing.

ER-AD

AD was not loaded successfully. [Corrective action] Turn the testing machine off and then back on again. Contact MinebeaMitsumi if the display reappears even after turning the power off and then back on. This is not displayed for TG or TGJ models.

ER-EEP

Data was not loaded successfully from the EEPROM when the power was turned on. [Corrective action] Turn the testing machine off and then back on again. Contact MinebeaMitsumi if the display reappears even after turning the power off and then back on. This is not displayed for TG or TGJ models.

NC

The load cell is not connected correctly to the testing machine, or is faulty. [Corrective action] Check that the load cell is connected to the testing machine. Also check that the cable connections are not broken.

E-STOP

The EMERGENCY switch was pressed. [Corrective action] Reset the EMERGENCY switch on the testing machine and then press the SET switch.

M-STOP

The testing force or position has already reached the MAX setting on starting testing. [Corrective action] Check whether the testing force or position values has reached the MAX setting or test end point. If it is reached, either move the crosshead to its position before starting testing, or increase the MAX setting or test end point for the test conditions. This is not displayed for TG models.

L-STOP The stroke limit operated. [Corrective action] Reset the testing machine stroke limit and then press the SET switch.

20. Using Flexible Correction 20-1. Flexible Correction

Flexible correction consists of canceling the flexibility of parts such as the load cell and moving crosshead from the variation of the testing machine position value in order to measure the test piece variations more accurately.

* This function is used for testing specimens such as metal which show small variation for large testing forces.

* The tension correction uses the compression correction formula.

20-2. Creating Flexible Correction Data Perform a test to determine the extent of moving crosshead and load cell flexibility in order to correct this flexibility.

Mount a test jig on the testing machine.

Set as follows on the Test Condition Create Window.

1) Set the test mode to [Single].

2) Set the test type to [Flexible Cor.].

3) Open the Testing screen and set the test speed.

* There is a risk of damaging the load cell if the test speed is set too fast.

Set to a slow speed of around 1 mm/min.

4) Set the maximum value of the testing force for flexible correction at the test end point.

5) Click [Save Condition] and test from 0 N to the test end point.

6) Click [Save] for the test conditions, and create a .twm file.

* Reload the flexible correction file when the jig is replaced. The flexibility amount will vary depending on the test jig used.

21. Origin Detection Operation Procedure Origin detection is a function for acquiring the absolute displacement.

The origin detection procedure is as follows.

1) Insert the origin detection jig into the testing machine.

2) Click [Start] on the Get Origin screen. A confirmation message appears. Click [OK] to start compressing the origin detection jig.

3) Once complete, a confirmation message appears. Remove the origin detection jig and click [OK].

4) The moving crosshead moves to the [Standard Height Position] set in the test conditions.

5) Insert the test piece, and start testing.

Note : Origin detection cannot be stopped by pressing the STOP button on the testing machine. To stop origin detection while in progress, click [Stop] on the screen.

Preparing Data Formats for Previous Models When raw data files (files with a file extension of .s1t) from testing with previous systems (SR series) are imported to TgAnest, data is converted and read following the format set as described in this section. Thus, it is necessary to prepare a data format matching the format of raw data files from previous models that you will import.

This section describes the screen for data formats of previous models and how to prepare these data formats before raw data in previous formats is loaded.

* For details on where files of raw data in previous formats are saved, refer to the user manual of the previous model.

On this screen, prepare a format matching the format of raw data files from previous models that you will import.

(3) Enter relevant information in [Format File Name]. Next, open a raw data file from a previous model and check the output information.

Based on the information you checked, specify values in the fields for[Read Start Row] and[Read Data Format].

(4) Clicking [Entry] saves your specified content as a file with the file format name. Once the file is saved, it will be added to the list of file format names that is displayed.

33-2. Screen Description This section describes setting items on [Old Model Data Format Setting Window].

(1) Format File Name

Enter a file name for saving the setting information.

File format names you have registered will be displayed in the [Format File Name] list. Selecting a registered file format name in the list loads the setting information and applies it to setting values.

Format file names must also be selected when data of a previous model is read, so it is advisable to use names that are easy to understand.

Open a raw data file from a previous model (files with a .s1t extension) to load.

Data such as the following is displayed. Check and correctly enter the positions for [Unit Read Row]and for [Data Read Start Row], as well as the number of rows to load.

* The initial row of raw data to load is used to specify the first row from which to begin reading the raw data. However, you are not necessarily required to specify a row in the raw data file that contains raw data.

(3) Read Data Format

Open a raw data file from a previous model (files with a .s1t extension) to load.

In each item, set the column where the corresponding raw data was output.

36-6. Camera Type Ductilometer Calibration Calibration refers to capturing the gauge lines when measuring using the camera type ductilometer. If obstructions such as a constant-temperature chamber or transparent case are present between the camera and the test piece, these must be in place when calibrating.

The calibration procedure is as follows.

Step (1) Connect the testing machine and camera type ductilometer to the PC, and start up TgAnest.

Step (2) Click [Create New Condition].

Step (3) Set the Extensometer to CameraElong on the System screen for the Test Condition Create Window.

* If a test conditions file using a camera type ductilometer is already present, that may be used instead.

Step (4) Click [Save Condition] and display the Main Window (Test screen).

Step (5) Confirm that the window for the camera type ductilometer is displayed.

Step (6) Click [Big Image] on the window for the camera type ductilometer. A large window is displayed.

Check the control start point. When set to [Test Start Point], it will stop or reverse at the specified position value. Area switching does not occur as expected in [Single] test mode.

When the changeover point is [Target Point]: Set the amount of change from the sensor value when the area starts. Confirm that the setting is correct. Example) With the Area 1 changeover point at 100 N and Area 2 changeover point at 200 N, switching occurs when the testing force reaches 100 N. Switching occurs between Area 2 and Area 3 when the testing force reaches 300 N.
