turnsthisDCintothedomesticallyusable230V50HzAC.Theinstallationis
connectedtotheNationalGrid.Assoonasthesystemstartssupplyingpower,
thispowerwillbeusedinthehomefirst.Anysurpluselectricityisexportedto
theNationalGridandanyshortagesaremadeupfromthegridnetwork.

TheCodeisthenationalstandardforthesustainabledesignandconstructionofnewhomes.Itsaimistoreduceourcarbonemissionsandcreatehomesthataremoresustainable.
TheCodeusesaonetosixCodeLevelratingsystemtocommunicatetheoverallsustainabilityperformanceofanewhome,andsetsminimumstandardsforenergyuseateachlevel.
Renewableenergysystems,suchasRedlandSolarPV,significantlycounttowardstheSustainableHomespointscore.FromCodeLevel3upwardstheiruseisincreasinglyimportantandCodeLevel6canonlybeachievedusinganon-sitemeansofgeneratingrenewableelectricityforthehome.RedlandSolarPVcanmeetthesedemands.
Feed-in Tariffs (FiT)
IntroducedinApril2010,theGBFeed-inTariffsrewardthosewhogeneratetheirownlowcarbonelectricity.
PVmicrogeneratorsbenefitfromafixedratepaymentforeachunitofelectricitygenerated(kWh),calledFITGenerationTariff.Inaddition,PVmicrogeneratorscanusetheenergy theygenerateforfreeandselltheenergytheydon’tusetotheirelectricitysupplier,foraminimumguaranteedratecalled FITExportTariff.
TheGenerationandExportTariffsarebothguaranteed for25yearsfromthedatethesystemisfirstregistered.GenerationandexporttariffsarelinkedtotheRetailPriceIndex(RPI)andFITsincomefordomesticpropertiesgeneratingelectricitymainlyfortheirownusearenotliable forincometax.FromApril2012,FITswillbesubjecttoan annualdegressionrateof7%.

Inlate2008theUKGovernmentpassedtheClimateChangeActwhich,forthe
firsttime,hasplacedalegalobligationontheUKGovernmenttocutitscarbon
dioxideemissionsby80%by2050.TheUKGovernmenthasalsosigneduptothe
EURenewableEnergyDirective,whichincludesaUKtargetof15%ofenergy
fromrenewablesby2020.
TomeetthesetargetstheUKGovernmenthasintroducedarangeofnewstandardsandfinancialincentivestargetedatthebuildingssector,currentlyresponsiblefor50%ofallUKcarbonemissions.WhetheryouareahomeowneroranationalhousebuilderyoucanbepartofthetransformationoftheUKnationalgridfromonedependentonfossilfuelstoonebasedoncleaner,renewablealternativessuchassolarpower.

Microgeneration certification Scheme (McS)
ToqualifyforaFeed-in Tariff,boththePVsystem usedandtheinstallermust beMCScertified.Redland SolarPVTilesareMCS certified.
Anticipatingfuturerequirementsinindustrycertification,RedlandSolarPVTileshavealsosuccessfullyundergonerigorousperformancetestingfordynamicwindloading,delugeanddrivingrainexposure,andresistancetoexternalfire.
Guarantees
RedlandSolarPVTilesarecoveredbytheRedland15YearRoofSystemGuaranteeandaPowerOutputGuaranteefromthePVtilemanufacturerguaranteeingatleast90%performanceforthefirst10yearsfromdateofcommissioningandatleast80%performanceforthefollowing15years. TheseguaranteescombinetogivethemostcomprehensiveSolarPVguaranteeyouwillfindonthemarket.
Like all products from theRedlandrange,ourSolarPVTileshavebeentested under storm and driving rain conditions at our unique wind tunnel facilityandaredesignedtomeetthesamewinduplift performance as thesurroundingroofwhencorrectlyfixed.

Standard pack content
PV Tiles –Profilespecific(RedlandCambrianSlatehasisownRedlandCambrianSlatePVTile,RedlandDuoPlainhasitsownRedlandDuoPlainPVtile,sameprincipleappliesacrosstheentireRedlandPVTilerange).ThistoensuretheperfectmatchbetweenthePVTilesandthesurroundingtilesforoptimalroofappearance,weatherperformanceandsystemdurability. PV tiles are made of an iEC 61215 certified laminate and analuminumframeforgreaterdurabilityandfireresistance.
Inverter–ArangeofmarketleadinginvertersavailabletomatchthePVsystemdesign.

Thesecalculationsarebasedon50%oftheelectricitygeneratedbeingusedon-site,withtheremaining50%beingfedbackintotheelectricitygrid,andareforasouthfacingsystem,ona 30degreepitchedroof,withlittleornoshading.
Forcomparisonpurposes,theaverageelectricityenergyrequirementofafourpersonhouseholdis3,300kWhayear.Thisvalueexcludestheenergyrequiredforhotwaterandspaceheating.
