Cómo Llegar
Existen varias posibilidades para llegar al Parque Natural Los Nevados:
En vehículo propio:Desde Manizales: Buscar la vía que conduce hacia la ciudad de Bogotá. En el kilómetro 27 encontrará el sitio denominado La Esperanza o El Ocho, desde donde se toma la vía al Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados hasta Brisas, lugar de ingreso al Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, ubicada a 14 kilómetros de la entrada y a 4.050 metros de altura sobre el nivel de mar.
Desde Bogotá: Debe tomar la vía Honda - Manizales hasta el sector denominado La Esperanza o El Ocho, desde donde se toma la vía al Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, hasta el Centro de Inducción de
Centro de visitantes el CisneUbicado en la zona centro del parque a 24 kilómetros de Brisas; hotel de alta montaña con sistema de calefacción a 4.180 metros de altura, con capacidad de alojamiento para 30 personas. Cuenta con habitaciones con baño privado y tina, espacios sociales, restaurante y ecotienda.
CampingSoportadas por refugios con servicios sanitarios y de cafetería, existen 2 zonas de camping autorizadas, Arenales y El Cisne.
Camping Arenales del Ruíz: Ubicada en el sector Arenales a 2.5 kilómetros de Brisas y 4.150 metros de altura, en el ecosistema denominado Superpáramo. Tiene capacidad máxima para 70 carpas de montaña y cuenta con el Chalet Arenales, donde encontramos cafetería, ecotienda, enfermería e infraestructura para los campistas dotada con baños y duchas.
Camping El CisneUbicada en el sector del Cisne, a 24 kilómetros de Brisas y 4.180 metros de altura, en la zona centro del parque.Cuenta con capacidad para 50 carpas de montaña soportada por el Centro de visitantes el Cisne.
Visita al glaciar del Nevado del RuizEn un vehículo, preferiblemente tipo 4x4, es posible llegar hasta El Refugio, ubicado a 10 kilómetros del sector de Brisas y a 4.800 metros de altura donde existe un parqueadero, se continúa caminando aproximadamente 2 horas, hasta llegar a los glaciares del Nevado del Ruiz, a 5.100 metros de altura, para apreciar los procesos de deshielo.De acuerdo al invierno pueden ocurrir nevadas que cubren de blanco la montaña.
Visita al Cráter de la OlletaA 4.850 metros de altura, caminando en compañía de un guía a una hora desde el Caballete, sector donde se deja el vehículo.
Guianza y senderismoCaminatas por senderos interpretativos y sitios al público orientadas por un funcionario o guía. Se recomienda realizar caminatas previas al ascenso para aclimatarse.Actividades permitidas con previa autorización de la Oficina de Parques Nacionales Naturales: Estos permisos se pueden solicitar directamente en la oficina del Parque Nacional Natural los Nevados en los teléfonos (6) 8864104 y 8864703 en Manizales o en la Unidad Administrativa Especial del Sistema de Parques Nacionales en Bogotá D.C. teléfonos (1) 243 1634 - 243 2009.
Pesca deportivaEn la Laguna del Otún se puede disfrutar de la pesca deportiva de la trucha arco iris, actividad regulada por la Unidad de Parques.
Visitantes Brisas, en un recorrido aproximado de 8 horas. Si desea visitar el parque, pero no cuenta con vehículo, en Manizales tiene la siguiente alternativa, todos los días a las 7:00 a.m. desde la Plazoleta de Confamiliares, sede Versalles (Carrera 25 con calle 25 esquina), hay una buseta que realiza el recorrido hasta el borde glacial del Nevado del Ruiz.
Parador Turístico La Esperanza.
Está ubicado en el Km 23 de la carretera que desde Manizales conduce al Parque Natural Los Nevados. Con una capacidad para albergar a cerca de 300 personas, el Parador Turístico La Esperanza se convierte en el lugar ideal para disfrutar del paisaje montañoso que ofrece la zona aledaña al Nevado del Ruiz. Cuenta así la región con un nuevo y calificado servicio de restaurante, que invitará a sus sentidos a regocijarse con una humeante taza de café y deleitar el paladar con una amplia variedad de platos nacionales e internacionales.

How to get there?
There are several ways of reaching Los Nevados (The Alps) Natural Park:
In car:From Manizales: Find the road that leads to the city of Bogotá. At Kilometer 27 you will find a place called Hope (La Esperanza), or The Eight (El Ocho), from where you will have take the road to the Alps Natural Park (Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados) to Brisas, entrance to Los Nevados/The Alps National Natural Park, located 14 kilometers from the entrance and 4,050 meters of height above sea level.

La Esperanza Tourist Bus StopLocated in km 23, from the road leading to Manizales Los Nevados Natural Park. With a capacity to house about 300 people, La Esperanza Tourist Bus Stop, becomes the ideal place to enjoy the mountain scenery offered by the area around the Nevado del Ruiz. The region accounts with a qualified new restaurant, which will invite your senses to rejoice with a steaming cup of coffee and delight the palate with a wide variety of national and international dishes.
El Cisne (The Swan) Visitors Centre Located in the center of the park about 24 km from Brisas, high mountain hotel with heating at 4,180 meters high, with accommodation capacity for 30 people. Rooms with private bathroom, bath tub, social spaces, restaurant and Eco-store.
CampingSupported by shelters with toilets and a cafeteria, there are two authorized camping areas, Arenales (Sandy Grounds) and El Cisne (The Swan):
Ruiz Camping Sandy Grounds (Camping Arenales del Ruíz): Located in the Arenales sector 2.5 kilometers from Brisas and 4,150 meters above sea level in the Superparamo (Super-Moor) Ecosystem. It can accommodate up to 70 mountain tents and has the Chalet Arenales (Sandy Grounds Chalé), where we found a cafeteria, Eco-store, nursery and facilities for campers equipped with bathrooms and showers.
El Cisne (The Swan) CampingLocated in the sector of El Cisne (The Swan), 24 kilometers from Brisas and 4,180 meters above sea level in the center of the park. It has capacity for 50 mountain tents supported by El Cisne Visitors Centre.
Visit to The Glacier of The Nevado del Ruiz (Ruiz Snowy Alps)In a vehicle, preferably 4x4 type, it is possible to reach 'El Refugio' (The Refuge), located at 10 kilometers from Brisas sector and 4,800 meters high, where there is a parking lot, you continue walking around 2 hours, until you reach the glaciers of Nevado del Ruiz, 5,100 meters high, where you can appreciate the thaw processes. During the winter, snowfalls may occur covering the mountain white.

Recreational FishingIn Otún Lagoon you can enjoy recreational fishing for the Rainbow Trout, an activity regulated by the Parks Unit. The suitable time for fishing is between May 1st and August 31st. Between September 1st and April 30th, it is not possible to do this activity because it is a reproduction period.

Naturaleza teniendo en cuenta los cuatro elementos esenciales para la vida del hombre: agua, aire, tierra, fuego. Este modelo de educación ambiental, se ofrece en este importante recurso. Situado en la zona sur-occidental de la ciudad, en límites del Hospital Santa Sofía y los barrios la Francia, los Alcázares, Asturias y Quinta Hispana. Posee unas 70 hectáreas de extensión, la mayor parte en bosques naturales, motivo por el cual se constituye en pulmón de este sector y el más importante Ecoparque hacia el futuro. Entre las especies forestales más relevantes, se pueden mencionar el Balso, Yarumo, Arboloco, Drago, Camargo, Laureles, Niguito y Carbonero.

Previo permiso por escrito en aguas de Manizales sede Avenida Kevin Angel, Se toma la avenida Kevin Ángel hasta la glorieta de San Rafael y por la vía enfrente a la Escuela de Carabineros Alejandro Gutiérrez ,se toma la vía hacia la Vereda Las Palomas desde el punto conocido como Disgosa unos tres Kilómetros hasta llegar a tanque de la Bocatoma, sitio de Ingreso al Parque.Acceso al público: 7.30 am a 2:00 pm.Existen entre otros, 2 senderos ecológicos denominados Panorama y/o Robledal o los Besitos. El sendero Panorama es un trayecto que puede realizarse en vehículo o caminando pues su recorrido es sobre la vía que llega a la vereda Las Palomas. El Robledal o los Besitos, es un sendero en el cual se internan en el Bosque donde se aprecia los diferentes estados en la transformación de un bosque desde una cobertura con plantaciones de protección, mezcla con especies nativas y luego un bosque secundario muy cercano a un bosque natural primario. En él se puede apreciar la bondad de estos territorios en la producción de agua, ya que de allí se abastece el 35% del acueducto de la ciudad de Manizales y se hacen estaciones para contemplar el paisaje , observar la vege tac ión y obse rvac ión de fauna , especialmente avifauna, que lo ha hecho merecedor a ser clasificado como uno de los mejores sitios de observación en los ámbitos nacional e internacional.

Public access from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 pm.Within others, there are two nature trails called Panorama and/or Oakwood or 'Besitos'. The Panorama trail is a journey that can be done by car or walking because its route is on the path that arrives at the Las Palomas Village.The Oak Grove or Besitos, is a path which leads into the forest where you can appreciate the different states in the transformation of a forest from a coverage of protection plantations, mixed with native species and then a secondary forest close to a primary natural forest. In it you can value the kindness of these territories in the production of water as they supply 35% of the aqueduct of the city of Manizales. Stations are built to contemplate the landscape, lush vegetation and wildlife watching, especially avifauna, which has garnered it to be ranked as one of the best observation sites within the scopes of both national and international levels.

Manizales, un Paraíso de AvesColombia es el país con mayor diversidad de aves a nivel mundial, en la actualidad se tienen identificadas 1870 especies, de las cuales se calcula que en Manizales habitan alrededor de 500. Entre las especies más numerosas que se pueden observar en la reserva están: la Mirla patiamarilla (Turdus fuscater ó Great Thrush), el Piscuis (Synallaxis azarae ó Azara´s Spinetail), el Copetón (Zonotrichia capensis ó Rufous-collared Sparrow), y el Cucarachero Pechigrís (Henicorhina leucophrys ó Gray-breasted Wood-Wren)Otro grupo lo constituyen las 30 especies de aves migratorias, entre las que se pueden mencionar el Gavilán Aliancho (Buteo platypterus), el Gavilán de Swainson (Buteo swainsoni), el Gavilán Tijereta (Elanoides forficatus) y el Aguililla del Misissipi (Ictinia mississippinsis).Otras, para los más expertos, las más importantes, son las endémicas y con algún peligro de extinción, entre las que se cuentan: el Cotinga Arrilufa Ampelion rufaxilla, el Totoroi Bigotudo Grallaria alleni, el Totoroi Milleri Grallaria milleri, el Hormiguero Rufocenizo Grallaria rufocinerea.

BIRD WATCHING IN COLOMBIA
Manizales, A Paradise Of BirdsColombia is the country with the greatest diversity of birds worldwide; today we have identified 1870 species, of which it is estimated that about 500 live in Manizales. The city fills the expectations of the birds, as it has ten eco-parks in the urban area, 5,000 hectares of green areas, in their territory moor ecosystems including, fog forest, tropical moist forest and coffee zone; with altitudes ranging from 800 meters above sea level to 3800, located in the heart of Colombia, forced crossing point for several species of migratory birds.These features make the city a paradise for a tourist activity that is gaining ever more adherents in the world: bird watching. This is about an innovative product, and for which the region has all the requirements that the type of visitor who likes this hobby, can enjoy a wonderful stay. Currently Costa Rica is one of the most developed countries in this tourism product and accounts with 877 species of birds throughout the country.
The route planned for visitors is ordered around the coffee triangle, with bird watching in the White River reserve, the Alcazares Ecopark, National Park of Snowy Alps, Coffee Zone, Flora and Fauna Sanctuary Otún - Quimbaya, and the mountainous region of Paraguas (Umbrella) and the National Natural Park Tatamá.
Multiple Songs and ColorsAmong the birds of the White River, there are 30 species of migratory birds, 30 raptor species between diurnal and nightly, 13 endangered species and 13 endemic or near-endemic, meaning those that can only be sighted in Colombia.Among the most numerous species that can be seen in the reserve are: the Yellow-legged Blackbird (Turdus fuscater or Great Thrush), the Piscuis (Synallaxis azarae or Azara's Spinetail), the Crested (Zonotrichia capensis or Rufous-collared Sparrow), and The Wren Pechigrís (Henicorhina
leucophrys or Gray-breasted Wood-Wren).Another group consists of 30 species of migratory birds, among which we can mention the Aliancho Hawk (Buteo platypterus), Swainson's Hawk (Buteo swainsoni), the Tailed Hawk (Elanoides forficatus) and the Misissipi Hawk (Ictinia mississippinsis).
Others, for the experts, the most important, are endemic and some endangered species, among which are: the Cotinga Arrilufa (Ampelion rufaxilla), the mustachioed Totoroi (Grallaria alleni), the Milleri Totoroi (Grallaria milleri), the Ants' Nest Rufocenizo (Grallaria rufocinerea).

BOSQUE DE LOS CARACOLES
Ubicado en el barrio Villapilar.En éste se encuentra flora propia de Bosque Húmedo Tropical como dragos, cedros negros, yarumos, guamos, arbolocos, nigüitos, nogales, arrayán de Manizales, chochos, balsos, lecheros (sus frutos son alimento preferido de las Martejas – nuestro mico emblema), heliconias, guaduas y muchos más. Además se encuentran mamíferos como martejas, guaguas, chuchas, conejos de monte, cusumbos, osos perezosos, comadrejas, ardillas, armadillos y aves como barranquillos, carpinteros, águilas, gavilanes, azulejos, siriríes, cardenales, colibríes, palomas, tucanes, entre otras. Este Bosque está intercomunicado con un vagón boscoso o bosque de galería hasta el Río Guacaica, por esta razón y las señaladas anteriormente, es muy importante conocer y conservar el “Bosque de los Caracoles”. Aquí se puede disfrutar de recorridos por senderos ecológicos, observación de fauna, recorridos a caballo, senderismo, visitas a talleres artesanales y reconocimiento de especies vegetales.

MONUMENTO A LOS COLONIZADORES
BARRIO CHIPRE
Ubicado en la Avenida 12 de Octubre; obra del maestro Luis Guillermo Vallejo Vargas, en la que reúne aspectos sobre la historia y la colonización de Manizales, atractivos turísticos y eventos de ciudad. Este monumento está acompañado de un sendero ecológico con especies nativas de la colonización.
El Monumento se divide en tres partes; El ÉXTASIS que simboliza la llegada de los pioneros a la tierra colonizada, la segunda parte, simboliza la AGONÍA, en representación de dos mulas hundiéndose en el fango y el esfuerzo de éstas por salir del lodazal y por último se encuentra EL TESORO que simboliza el desarrollo que llego a la región con la colonización antioqueña.

SETTLERS MONUMENT
Located on October 12th Avenue, a work by Luis Guillermo Vargas Vallejo, which brings together aspects of the history and colonization of Manizales, tourist attractions and city events. This monument is accompanied by an eco-trail with native species of colonization.
The Monument is divided into three parts; THE ECSTASY, that symbolizes the arrival of the pioneers who settled the land, the second part, symbolizes THE AGONY, representing two mules sinking into the mud and their joint effort to get out of the mud, and latter is THE TREASURY which symbolizes the development that came to the region with the colonization of Antioquia.
