“It’s a great time to start your career as a Diesel technician. Baby Boomers are retiring the transportation is growing and companies are looking to Ryder to

manage their fleets!”

Ryder Named a 2015 Most Valuable Employer for Military by CivilianJobs.com

Since joining Hiring Our Heroes in November 2011, Ryder has increased the percentage of veterans in its almost 30,000 employee US workforce from 8% to 10%. The company has also doubled the amount of recently separated veterans hired in that same time period.

“At Ryder, we are always striving to attract and retain top talent that fits in well with our culture,” said Greg Greene, Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer, Ryder. “For that reason, we remain focused on equipping veterans, who are invaluable to an organization, with information about the trucking and logistics industry and the many options available to them at Ryder.

“Mission oriented” is one way Ed Tobon, director of recruiting at Ryder System, describes veterans who’ve been trained to get a job done no matter what. A former Navy aircraft pilot, he heads the company’s efforts to seek and hire military members. “They have worked in a team environment, and a lot of them have had leadership roles, so they can be good as the lead in warehousing teams” and other roles. They have the potential to be better employees than someone off the street, and with training and guidance they usually are.”
