An eco-friendly solution

An unhappy side effect at this time of year is the increased number of accidents and injuries. This is often due to inadequately maintained or designed play environments – a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Now if there’s one thing that’s true about schools playgrounds it’s that no two are ever quite the same. Sure, they may have much the same equipment. But that’s often where the similarities end. There are many factors that come into properly scoping any project including, but not limited to, the surrounding landscape, amount of children regularly using the area, style of play and climate conditions.

I’m proud of the efforts our team makes in this aspect of our work. With care and meticulous attention to detail we can ensure the very best surface is put down. Such a surface needs to be entirely suitable for the playground, to encourage interaction and protect small bodies while providing long-term durability and overall cost-effectiveness.

This work starts well before we’re on site. The forward thinking and innovation of our R&D team has delivered some great advancement in playground matting over the years, and their continued efforts ensure every area can be appropriately covered.

It’s innovation that starts with understanding what our clients need. As always we look forward to your feedback and thoughts. So please feel free to call with issues, ideas or to book in your free playground consultation.

Look forward to seeing you on-site soon , James.

With the start of the golden weather upon us we’re noticing the annual boost in sales and installation work as new recreation areas are introduced and old ones upgraded. It’s good timing too – New Zealand’s playgrounds are sure to get a thorough workout in the summer ahead…

There are over one billion tyres manufactured world-wide each year.

For every 200m2 of Pour’n’Play we install, we use 1500 recycled tyres.

There is no match for high performance rubber:• Unrivalled strength• Elasticity (strain energy)• Noise and shock absorption

• Chemical resistance• Long service life • Non-toxic, enviro-friendly.

our old playground was run-down & potentially unsafe. so we needed new equipment and, with the height of these new features, suitably safe, strong and durable matting. previously bark had caused problems with dirt and safety issues. after passing around samples to the board it was agreed that numat was the best choice. We knew it was a big investment… but since installation a few weeks ago the change in student play has been huge.

Increased safetyPlayTiles offer a range of scientifically proven Critical Fall Height factors (CFH), from any height up to 3.0 metres. The CFH is maximised by the installation of Numat shockpads under the standard 50mm surface tiles. These are 30mm and 50mm shockpads, increasing the CFH from 1.7 to 3.0 metres.

The tiles have an anti-slip, textured surface, yet have an extremely low friction level. The underside of the tiles feature a deep footprint to optimise shock absorbency.

PlayTiles are fully certified to S5828:2004 in Australia and New Zealand, and DIN EN 1177:2008 in Europe. They have a low fire risk, tested to BS-4790.

PlayTiles can also be used on paths at sports grounds and golf courses where damage to footwear cleats is an issue. The cleats sink into the solid rubber surface. PlayTiles then self-heal to maintain the tiles’ integrity.
