When the applicant is ready to test, the applicant contacts his Recommending Instructor. The RI, who has pre-registered, then logs in to IACRA using his own Recommending Instructor FTN, username, and password.

The RI must retrieve the applicant’s application information. He does this by entering the applicant’s FTN on the RI Retrieve Application screen and clicking the Find Application button.

Searching by the FTN, IACRA locates all of the applications associated with that number. The RI selects the application and clicks Next.

The Recommending Instructor checklist appears and allows the RI to follow the links in the checklist in order to process the active application. Also, the RI can reset an application should it contain incorrect information that the applicant must reenter.

The RI reviews the 8710 form to ensure that no mistakes were made when the applicant entered information. Note that on the checklist page, a check mark has appeared next to the first item, indicating completion of that task.

The RI enters the Knowledge Test ID for Matthew Good to search for his test results.

After the RI enters the knowledge test ID and presses the Search button, the results are displayed on the screen. An airman can also have failed and expired results as well. If the RI needs to see more detailed Knowledge Test information, he can select the ‘Click here to View Knowledge Test’ link.

With the first two steps completed, it is now time for the RI to digitally sign the application.

At this point, the RI can preview the application or select to go ahead and digitally sign the application by clicking the Sign Application button.

The RI clicks the yellow link to sign the application.

The RI’s name, representing the digital signature, appears on page 2 of the 8710 form.
