Recommendation Sze Man Wong

12 May 2016 Dear Mr XXX It is my pleasure to write this letter as a reference for Sze Man (Nicole) Wong, currently my student at Artevelde University College Ghent, Belgium, in the International Business Management programme. I have known the applicant, Nicole, for 1.5 years as her study coach, teacher of International Business English, Intercultural communication skills, Talent and Management Development and as her academic advisor. Nicole has an outstanding academic record with excellent grades. She has passed all her courses at the first exam chance and has never obtained grades that weren’t fine. She has been in the top 5% of students throughout the programme. She has worked especially hard in view of increasing her chances of study with a partner school such as yours. Nicole is accustomed to communicating and working with many different nationalities of students. She is openminded and tolerant. She is very committed towards her fellow students and has been an active and creative student representative in the past year. She has actively made suggestions for improvement of student services. From a linguistic point of view, studies abroad in English will cause no problem at all as she is currently participating in a Bachelor programme taught fully in English, for which at entry level all candidates have to obtain the B2 level of the Common Framework of Reference for Modern Languages (standardized European levels for all skills : reading, writing, listening, speaking). This corresponds to grades 6 – 6,5 in the IELTS and TOEFL scores of 87109 and allows students to take academic courses taught in English without problems. On top of that she will have had all of her academic work and courses in English for two years before starting her study exchange at your institution. She has also completed an International Business English course in year 1 and an International Business Communication course in year 2 (end level C1 = proficient advanced user of English). As Nicole is a very interested, hardworking and sociable student, I would recommend her for participation in your programme. I personally consider this type of exchange essential towards acquiring the right life experience as a starting professional in International Business. Should you require further information on Nicole, our own programme or the courses I taught, I will gladly provide it so don’t hesitate to mail me. Yours faithfully
