This booklet is your guide to learning about the City of St. Albert’s recreational and fitness spaces that can be booked as part of the City of St. Albert’s reciprocal use agreement with St. Albert schools.

Teachers and school staff can book space or activities at Servus Credit Union Place, Jarome Iginla/Kinex Arenas, the track at Fowler Athletic Park, Larry Olexiuk Field,

outdoor rinks, sports fields, ball diamonds, Fountain Park Recreation Centre and The Arden Theatre.

As a partner in the City’s reciprocal use agreement, St. Albert schools have access to City facilities and recreation centres for no cost or reduced rates to help them deliver their curriculums.

The Sarasota Homes and Tudor Veterinary Field Houses are flexible spaces that can be used for soccer, lacrosse, roller hockey, fitness training and more.

INDOOR ARENASThe City of St. Albert offers five NHL-sized arenas. Three arenas are located at Servus Place (the Go Auto Arena, the Mark Messier Arena and the Troy Murray Arena) and two are at the Jarome Iginla/Kinex Arena.

The arenas are open for public skating, figure skating, ice hockey, ball hockey, roller hockey or lacrosse.

OUTDOOR RINKS AND ICE SURFACESThere are 20 outdoor rink locations with 28 ice surfaces. Fifteen surfaces are located near or on school grounds and seven locations have changerooms.

AQUATIC FACILITIES There are many options for getting students in the water and swimming at Fountain Park Recreation Centre, Servus Place, Grosvenor Outdoor Pool and Woodlands Water Play Park.

These aquatic facilities are fun for all ages and help students hone their swimming skills while playing in the water.

• 60 to 120 people - $25/hour (additional lifeguard fee)

• 121-180 people - $50/hour (additional lifeguard fee)

Servus Place – Recreational SwimmingDaily admission fee:

• 2 to 12 years old: $6/person

• 13 to 17 years old: $8/person

• Supervisors: NO COST to meet supervisory ratios

• Additional supervisors: $10.50/person

• Fees can be waived with proof of Servus Place membership

Located in Servus Place, it features a 270m track with four, one-metre-wide lanes for students to walk, jog or run.

• Available times:

○ January and February only.

○ Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Fee: $2.50/child. No charge for teacher/supervisors.

• No more than 15 students may be on the track level at any time.

• Only lane four may be used when running time trials.

• Only one student per lane at any time.

• Two supervisors from the school (preferably instructors) must be present to manage the students on the track.

• Groups that exceed 15 participants and require additional space must book the field house as per regular booking procedure.

• The fitness track is not a standard indoor competition track and is used primarily for recreation and fitness activities. It is a shared space for multiple users.

CUSTOMIZED PROGRAMS Schools can work with the Servus Place fitness and recreation staff to customize their visit with fitness activities like yoga, spin, Smart Start for Teens, dryland training and recreation activities like archery tag, inflatables or a cooking class.

OUTDOOR SPORTS AREASSt. Albert has an excellent assortment of outdoor sport facilities for all sorts of activities.

• Larry Olexiuk Field is a multi-use artificial turf field with a field house that includes dressing rooms and a meeting room.

• Fowler Athletic Park is an ideal spot to practice track and field events like long jump, high jump and hammer and discus throw.

• There are 25 baseball and softball diamonds "floated" every day, weather permitting, to level the infield.

• There are 46 natural turf fields that are inspected and maintained on a week-long routine, weather permitting.

• There are eight racquet sport court locations with a total of 36 courts: 18 tennis and 18 pickleball.

THE ARDEN THEATREGive your students the best hands-on learning experience possible by booking The Arden Theatre so they can perform on a fully-operational stage and work with professional technicians.

Under the reciprocal use agreement, schools can book the theatre for reduced rates from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

THEATRE RENTAL• $112/hour

• Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Includes:

• Main stage, green room, four dressing rooms, and Progress Hall; up to two technicians.

• Front of house manager, volunteer ushers and ticket takers.

• Up to eight hours of stage time (after eight hours, venue and staff overtime charges are incurred).

• Overtime for venue (if incurred) is $190/hour Non-prime; $220 Prime.

NOTESBookings are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and all requests are handled in the order in which they are received.

Bookings must be made at least three business days in advance of the request booking date. Bookings made less than three business days in advance may not be confirmed or accommodated.

Schools must bring their own equipment for ice, gym and field activities.

Daily admission fee at Servus Place provides access to:

• Landrex Water Play Centre

• Public Gym Court #1

• Ron Hodgson Leisure Ice (Seasonal/Indoors)

• Ron Hodgson Children’s Playground (appropriate for children up to Grade 3)

Unless otherwise noted, fees are applicable during the active school curriculum calendar (September - June) on school days (Monday to Friday) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and do not apply to school breaks, holidays or summer school.
