Recipe: Anzac Biscuits
Ingredients
100 g butter
1/4 cup golden syrup ( you could use honey instead)
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup sugar
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup plain flour
1 cup roasted peanuts chopped (Optional)
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tbs water warmed
Method
1. Heat the oven to 180 C or 160C fan forced with a rack in the middle of the oven. 2. Line a baking tray with baking paper. 3. Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Add the golden syrup, take the pot off the heat and stir
until butter and syrup are blended. 4. Stir in vanilla, nuts, sugar, oats, coconut and flour to the saucepan. Mix baking soda and
water. 5. Add to the mixture and stir well. If the mixture seems too crumbly to mix, add 1-2
tablespoons of extra water. 6. Roll into small balls and place on the baking paper leaving plenty of room for spreading. 7. Bake for about 15 minutes, until the biscuits are evenly golden brown. 8. Lift the warm biscuits onto a cooling rack. When cold store in an airtight container.

Inside Ideas:
1. Trace your partner’s body- you will need butcher’s paper and textas Using butchers paper, trace a partner’s whole body. Now try to include as many body parts and organs as you can.
2. Coloured paper Chains: you will need coloured paper, stapler (or tape) and scissors Cut even lengths of coloured paper. Staple ends together to form circle. Slowly make this into a chain. Get creative!
3. Simon Says Draw You will need Paper and Pencils/ Crayons/ Textas
How to Play:
1. Give everyone paper and pencils/crayons/markers/pens to play with. 2. One person will be "Simon" and will be responsible for giving out the directions for drawing. 3. Simon gives out directions by saying "Simon Says + direction". For example - Simon Says draw a large circle. 4. All players will draw what has been instructed.
Beware if Simon does not say Simon Says!
For example: Give instructions for drawing a house and tree picture using shape descriptions. For example - Simon says draw a large rectangle. Simon says add a large triangle on top. Or draw clowns also using mostly shapes. Simon says draw a triangle, Simon says draw circles inside the triangle.
4. Snowman ( Hangman) You will need paper and pen Snowman is based on the old favourite hangman -One person thinks of a word (that they know how to spell confidently). -They write word lines for each letter of the word (but of course don’t tell your partner what the word is)
-The partner tries to guess the word by suggesting different letters. -For each letter they get wrong you start to draw a part of the snowman. Ie snow man’s face, body, nose, eyes, hat etc -If they can’t guess the word they end up with a complete snowman. -The players win when they guess the correct word.
5. Word or Picture Snap You will need paper, scissors and pen/pencils/ crayons
-Cut paper into small even pieces
-On one side, write your favourite, easy to recognise words on each sheet. Make two copies of each word. You will need at least 20-30 words, the more the better.
For small children you could also draw pictures next to the word or instead of the word
Mix them up, pass out to each person. One at a time put a card down. See if you can get a match- SNAP
