Prior to the start of the 2018 Peyton’s Promise Run-Walk on June 9, Mayor Desiderio presented a “Key To The City” to Sea Isle native Peyton Laricks, age 10, who accepted the key with her mom, Debbie, and dad, Dustin, at her side.

In 2008 Peyton was born with a birth defect known as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, or CDH, and she endured 88 days in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia – including 12 days on life support and multiple surgeries – before coming home to Sea Isle City. Because they were so grateful that their daughter was able to defy the odds, Peyton’s parents made a promise to help raise awareness and money for ongoing CDH research – and so the Peyton’s Promise 5K Run / 2K Walk was created…
