RECEIVE SYSTEMS MODULE
INTRODUCTION
The Receive Systems Module (RSM) is an optional module that can be fitted to an Advanced Power Monitor (APM) or Antenna System Monitor (ASM). The APM/ASM can then measure the levels of up to three separate receive signals down to a lower limit of -125 dBm. A peak detector on each input indicates when high level signals, up to -35 dBm, are present. Applications include networks using two receive antennas, such as dual diversity or dual Rx antenna systems. The RSM may be easily retrofitted to any APM/ASM providing a network upgrade path as and when required.
GENERAL Operating Precautions
• There is no On/Off switch on the unit, it becomes active as soon as DC power is connected.
• Do not operate the unit outside the specified operating temperature range.
• Do not open the unit as there are no user serviceable parts inside. All faulty equipment should be returned to the supplier for repair.
INSTALLATION Mounting
The RSM is mounted onto the APM/ASM using the supplied bracket. See Figure 1. • Fit the bracket to the APM/ASM using the three M3 screws.
• Mate the RSM N connector to the APM/ASM Receive input N connector.
• Secure the RSM to the mounting bracket using the four M4 screws.
Cabling • Connect the supplied power cable between the ASM/APM power connector and
the power connector on the side of the RSM. Clip the cable into the cable clip attached to the mounting bracket.
• Connect the supplied 15 way ribbon cable between the APM/ASM ALARM connector and the RSM. Fold the cable as shown in Figure 1. Clip the cable into the cable clip attached to the mounting bracket.
• Connect DC power from an external supply to the RSM rear panel POWER input. The AC plug-pack supplied with AC powered APM/ASM’s has sufficient capacity to also power the RSM.
Firmware The APM/ASM firmware must be version 2.7 or later to operate with the RSM.
Earthing and Lightning Protection Compliance with international electrical safety standards requires that the external Protective Earthing point on the RSM, as indicated by this symbol, be permanently hardwired to the premises protective earth system using 1.5 mm2
(14 AWG) minimum cross-sectional area conductor. These connections provide protection from hazardous and transient voltages. It is essential to also install the recommended lightning protectors on all RF cables connected to the RSM.
RSM MOUNTING

RSM REAR PANEL POWER LED
• Green when external DC power is present. The LED blinks whenever the APM/ASM communicates with the RSM.
• Red indicates a RSM over or under current alarm.
PEAK LEDs • Yellow if the Rx input level is above the Warning Level set in the GUI. • Red if the Rx input level is above the Alarm Level set in the APM/ASM GUI.

Max RF input level: 0 dBm Temp Range: -30 to +60 ⁰C Power: 9-36 VDC or 36-60 VDC Power consumption: 6 W
RSM Specifications: Frequency Range: 132 to 960 MHz Gain: 0 to15 dB Detector Range: -35 to -65 dBm
ALARM LED • Latches yellow when any RSM peak LED is yellow for a time equal to or
greater than the alarm delay time set in the APM/ASM GUI. • Latches red when any RSM peak LED is red for a time equal to or greater
than the alarm delay time set in the APM/ASM GUI.
DC POWER CONNECTOR • Power to this connector will provide power to the RSM and also the APM via
the interconnecting power cable.
15-WAY D CONNECTOR • This connector has the same functionality as the APM/ASM Alarm
connector.
RF CONNECTORS • Rx In and Rx Out for diversity paths A and B. If the RxA/B outputs are not
used they should be disabled in the GUI. • An EXT Rx input which can be used to monitor signals from other system
components or from an external antenna. USB CONNECTOR (on side of housing)
• This can be used for future firmware upgrades.
