Quick access to assessments Expert support We know how worrying a possible cancer diagnosis is. Which is why, if you’ve spotted any changes to your skin and are worried it may be cancer, we’ll make sure you receive the tests you need, quickly. You won’t even need to see your GP first; all you need to do is call us. If you spot any changes in your skin, and you’re worried it could be cancer, you can call us without the need to see a GP first. You’ll be asked some questions to make sure this service is right for you. You’ll be referred to a private SkinHealth UK clinic, where a dedicated skin cancer nurse will photograph any suspicious skin marks or moles. These will then be analysed by a specialist consultant, using the latest technology (dermoscopy), and results sent to you within five working days. We work closely with our provider, SkinHealth UK, to make sure you’re seen quickly if you suspect cancer. They’re experts in their field and have years of experience providing clinical advice and treatment. Our in-house healthcare professionals also have extensive knowledge, insight and experience in helping members who are facing cancer. Know the signs of skin cancer

It’s well known that when cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, before it’s had the chance to get too big or spread, it’s more likely to be treated successfully. It’s important that we keep a look out for things that may be signs of something more serious than an innocent mole, particularly if they changed in shape, colour or sensation.

All melanomas do not look the same and there are several different types:

Melanomas can appear on any part of the skin but they’re most common in men on the torso and in women on the legs.

AsymmetryLook out for any irregular shaped moles.

BordersCheck to see if any of your moles have ragged edges.

Colour changeLook for overall colour change or a mole that’s a different colour in one part than in another.

ElevationCheck for any raising of the surface, especially if it’s irregular.

DiameterLook for moles that have increased in size, particularly by more than about 6mm across.
