Reasons for detention

-Dispatch cannot locate trailer being called to dock. Trailer is skipped next trailer is called in.

-Multiple trailers in yard. Oldest trailer doesn’t contain most needed parts.

-No ASN No 101 No paper work. Trailer is essentially invisible to logistics.

-Paper work not delivered to correct dock. Dock worker unloads according to paper work.

-Systematic/scanning error reflecting a variance on a trailer that has physically been completely unloaded. False detention report based on systematic variance.

-Too much inventory/Trailers on the yard from local suppliers. Ex. 7 trailers on the yard. We receive 2 per day and unload 2 per day maintaining 7 trailers on the yard also maintaining trailers with detention fees.

-Multiple trailers in yard. New shipment backs into dock. Unloader unknowingly unloads what is in the dock. Or, we are forced to unload what is in the dock if parts are in critical status, no time to call trailer out and old trailer in etc.
