Day 1: ARRIVAL ANTANANARIVO

Arrival at the airport. Meet and assist by the tour guide. Briefing and transfer in town. Overnight at SAKAMANGA www.sakamanga.com

Day 2: ANTANANARIVO – ANTSIRABE 170km

Meet with the tour guide at your hotel. After briefing, head south to Antsirabe, a journey through highland landscape with its beautiful rice fields and traditional houses on display. Stopover in Ambatolampy to visit the aluminum cooking pot factory. Arrival in Antsirabe late afternoon. City tour by car before check in at your hotel, visit of some workshop in town: sweets workshop: a traditional way of making sweets, a jeweler’s workshop and a horn workshop. Possibility of rickshaw tour depending on the weather. The rickshaw is the means of transportation widely used by the population.

Day 3: ANTSIRABE – AMBOSITRA - ANTOETRA 130 km - SAKAIVO

Breakfast and then departure to the mysterious lake of Tritriva, 27 km far from the city, through rice-field and charming village. Then continuation to Ambositra and crossing magnificient terraced ricefields and forests of eucalyptus. Ambositra, the centre of Madagascar’s wood carving industry. Continuation to Antoetra, the source of the “Zafimaniry” art in Madagascar. It is classified as human oral heritage by UNESCO since 2006. Practically all wooden surfaces (walls, window frames, posts, beams, stools, chests, tools) display elaborate ornamentation and the creativity of the craftworkers make every item exceptional. 5 to 6 hours trek to reach Sakaivo. Faliarivo and Sakaivo are typical village composed of wooden houses. Overnight in a Guesthouse, very simple but comfortable.

Day 4: SAKAIVO –ANTOETRA – AMBOSITRA – RANOMAFANA 210 Km

Early morning, back to Antoetra after about 3h30 walk. Drive to Ranomafana with stop in Ambositra for the visit of some handcraft shops. Arrival in Ranomafana by the end of afternoon. A night walk with a local guide to explore nocturnal lemurs and other fauna’s species.

Overnight and dinner at CENTREST.



Day 5: RANOMAFANA – FIANARANTSOA – AMBALAVAO 107 km

Breakfast at the hotel. With a local guide, exploration of Ranomafana National Park: with about 41000ha, the park is home to more than 114 birds species, reptiles, butterflies, insects and two species of rarest lemurs. The fauna is very rich in medicinal plants, and orchids. Continuation to Ambalavao, on the way, possibility of visiting a wine cave with wine tasting. Then visit the Antemoro paper mill: handmade papers which are decorated with dried petals.

Overnight and dinner at TSIENIMPARIHY LODGE.

Day 6: AMBALAVAO – ANDRINGITRA 57 km - AMBALAMANDRAY

Breakfast. Then drive to Andringitra National Park, known for its biodiversity. 78 species of amphibians, 50 species of reptiles, 54 species of mammals, 108 species of birds, and more than 1000 species of plants have been recorded in this area. Wonderful peaks, waterfalls, … Andringitra National park offers among the most beautiful panoramas of Madagascar.

Afternoon, short walk in the valley of Namoly, a vast field of rice. Meeting with local population, the Betsileo people, they are one among those who knew how to protect their ethnic value.

Overnight on camping, folklore dances animation by local population.



Day 7: AMBALAMANDRAY - ANDRIAMPOTSY

Breakfast, early departure for the trekking into the park. A full day rich in colors and contrasts. A great panoramic view of the valley of Tsaranoro. Passage on the down slope of those mountains. Geographical and ethnological border between the Bara in the West and the Betsileo in the East. Overnight camping, just down the peak Boby, at 2050m of altitude.

Day 8: ANDRIAMPOTSY – PIC BOBY - AMBALAVAO

Climb at the top of the peak Boby (2658m, second summit of Madagascar). A breathtaking panoramic view with an unusual landscape. Drive back to Ambalavao by the afternoon. Overnight and dinner at TSIENIMPARIHY LODGE.

Day 9: AMBALAVAO – RANOHIRA 241 Km

Breakfast. Drive to Ranohira, on the way possibility of visiting the impressive zebu market on Wednesday and Thursday in Ambalavao. Stopover at Anja, 15 km far from Ambalavao, an associative park managed by the villagers. Home of many ring-tailed lemurs (the catta), the visit allow you to get close to these cute cat like lemurs. Crossing the vast plateau of Ihorombe before reaching the towering jagged massif of Isalo. Overnight and dinner at ISALO RANCH www.isalo-ranch.com



Day 10: RANOHIRA

A full day tour in Isalo National Park: an easy to make round trips of 6 km will take you to the famous natural swimming pool, exploration of the massif itself, some canyons, the park typical fauna and flora. By the afternoon, appreciate the sunset amidst the beauty of the massif. Overnight and dinner at ISALO RANCH.

Day 11: RANOHIRA – TULEAR 243 km

Breakfast. Heading towards the coast, crossing through the mushroom village of Ilakaka built by sapphire explorers. Vegetation changes down there: desert landscape with poor vegetation composed especially of spiny plants. On the way, you can see some of those beautiful and colorful Mahafaly tomb. City tour.

Overnight and dinner at MORINGA www.moringa-tulear.mg



Day 12: TULEAR - ANTANANARIVO

Breakfast. Then flight back to Antananarivo. Meet and assist upon arrival at the airport. Transfer to a hotel near the airport.

Day 13: DEPART ANTANANARIVO

Breakfast. City tour to explore the different spots that make Tana an exceptional town. Panoramic view at the upper town after visiting the Queen’s Palace and its vicinity. Then drive to the handicrafts market at the “Digue” to buy some souvenirs. Transfer to the airport by the evening, flight to Europe.
