How to Enroll in Early Childhood Classes

Visit www.Moundsview.ce.eleyo.com Online registration begins August 1 at 9 am. for Mounds View Schools residents.

All it takes is a few clicks, including payment, and your registra-tion for an Early Childhood Family Education class will be waiting in queue until the random computer-generated lottery.

The random lottery for first semester ECFE class registrations will be held on August 14 at noon for residents of Mounds View Schools.*

Second semester ECFE class registration will take place for currently enrolled families starting in December. All others may register in January, 2020.* As a result of a School Board decision, ECFE will no longer be accepting registrations from out of district families.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

Welcome to ECFEYou are your child’s first and most important teacher. Our affordable ECFE classes support you in this role. Join now to strengthen your parenting skills and discover activities to help your child grow and develop.

Most classes meet once a week for two hours or less and include the 3 components described below. Quality childcare is provided on site for a fee for siblings not enrolled in class. Register for sibling care when you register online for an ECFE class. Questions? Call 651-621-7420.

Parent Education• Facilitated by a licensed parent education

teacher.• Focused on research-based topics related

to child and parent development. • Discuss topics including child development,

temperament traits, discipline and more while the children play during the Children’s Learning time with the guidance of the early childhood teacher.

Parent-Child Interaction• Experience play-and-learn activities

to enhance your child’s language, pre-reading and math skills guided by licensed teachers in early childhood and parent education.

• Sing songs and listen to stories at cir-cle time, and leave your ECFE class with new ideas to try at home.

Children’s Learning • Children continue to learn with the early

childhood teacher and a trained para- professional while parents participate in the Parent Education class.

Our Infants and Parents classes start with parent-baby playtime, followed by circle time songs and stories. The licensed teacher then leads the parent education discussion held in the children’s classroom on topics such as infant growth and development.

Life with your explorer is fun and tiring all at the same time. Learn guidance techniques and how to support your child’s struggle of dependence - independence.

Parents separate from the chil-dren for parent education time in another classroom when parents and staff feel the time is right. (*This does not apply to noted classes as they are non-separat-ing classes.)

Busy BodiesTwo year-olds are terrific and have very busy bodies. Come to play with activities designed just for two’s. Parents separate from the children for parent education to learn about setting limits, temper-ament traits, toilet learning and other toddler parenting topics. See fees on page 10.

The goal for Play and Learn Preschool is to encourage children to become enthusiastic learners and be ready for kindergarten.

The program offers classes for children 2, 3 or 5 mornings a week or 5 afternoons a week. Classes are held at Pike Lake, Snail Lake and the Early Childhood Education Center.

We are all about families! Parent Advisory Committee - PAC

The Early Childhood Parent Advisory Committee meets three or four times a year with FREE child care provided. Committee activities include: advising staff members on issues affecting Early Childhood programs, sponsoring events for families including Pass-It-Along, Valentine Dance/Silent Auction, Create-A-Plate and the Vehicle Fair, and raising funds and providing input on how the proceeds are used. Early Childhood Screening Early Childhood Screening is required by the State of Minnesota to detect possible health or learning concerns so that the child can get helpful services before Kindergarten. Screening is typically completed at 3½ yearsof age and takes about one hour.

Home VisitsDo you have parenting questions? Are you unable to attend classes? Then ECFE will come to you. FREE home visits with a family educator are offered to families with children up to age five. Call 651-621-7420 to schedule your home visit.

Siblings DiscountFor siblings enrolled in the same one day/week ECFE class, the fee for the second child is 1/2 the class cost. Call the EC Programs office at 651-621-7420 and we’ll enroll your children in class with the dis-counted rate. This discount does not apply to music or preschool classes.

Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)ECSE services are provided by ECSE teachers, speech and language clinicians, the school pyschologist, occupational therapists, physical therapists and school nurses.

The Birth to Age Three ECSE program is home based. The 3-5 Year Old ECSE program is located at our Education Centers.

REGISTRATION

Early Childhood Screening Early Childhood Screening is required by the State of Minnesota to detect possible health or learning concerns so that the child can get helpful services before Kindergarten. Screening is typically completed at 3½ yearsof age and takes about one hour.

Care for SiblingsSafe and reliable childcare is pro-vided by trained paraprofessionals during some ECFE class times. There is no age restriction for how young a child can be to attend. Babies that are 3 months or older are not allowed in the classroom for safety reasons, so sibling care or off-site childcare will need to be ar-ranged. Register for sibling childcare at the same time you register for an ECFE class. The chart on page 10 lists the fees for the semester.

Drop-In Sibling Care Limited drop-in childcare is available while parents are attending an ECFE class.

Cost is $5/hour per child. Call 651-621-7420 at least 24 hours in advance to reserve a childcare slot.

Refunds for weekly ECFE classes and/or childcare will be issued if a cancellation is made according to the following schedule: * Before class starts: full fee refunded. * After first class: 75% fee refunded. * After second class: 50% fee refunded. * No refunds will be issued after third class. * A $10 processing fee is charged per refund.

Cancelled ClassesClass/childcare fees will not be re-funded for cancelltions due to weather or staff professional days. There are no refunds for family vacation days or days missed due to family illness or extended leave of absence.

Sibling Care, Refunds, & Registration

Early Childhood Family Education class registration is easy to do! Visit www.MoundsView.ce.eleyo.com. Set up or access your existing account. Select a class, enroll your child (and enroll your other child/children in sibling care if needed). Provide payment information, and include a second choice class just in case the first choice class fills.

Your online registration will be waiting in queue until the random lottery on August 14 at NOON. At that time registrations from residents of the Mounds View School District* will be processed randomly by computer, your credit card will be charged, and class confirmation e-mails will be sent. Any semester one class openings available on August 14 after 12:01 P.M. will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Families enrolled in first semester classes may enroll online for second semester classes in December. Any second semester class openings available in January 2020 will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

*As a result of a School Board decision, ECFE will no longer be accepting registrations from out of district families.
