Neglected tropical diseases were poverty-related infectious illnesses mostly affected the poor in developing countries, she said.

“They [the diseases] are often neglected. It’s true that they are not so deadly but they can cause disabilities and create huge potential economic losses,” she told a press conference on the sidelines of a two-day ASEAN seminar on neglected tropical diseases entitled “Clinical practice, guidelines for the strategy and management toward the elimination of neglected tropical diseases in the ASEAN region”.

According to the Health Ministry, five out of a total of 17 neglected tropical diseases remained endemic in Indonesia despite efforts to eliminate them. They include filariasis, leprosy, schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminthiasis, and yaws.

EXAMPLE 2Everyone wants to be beautiful, but what is it about a person that really makes her beautiful? The truth is that it’s not any one thing. Beauty is a combination of many qualities that give pleasure to the senses or mind. Your personality, sense of humor, and compassion for others are a large part of what makes you beautiful. The secret to being beautiful is feeling beautiful. It is more about inner qualities than physical appearance. You may not love all of your quality but if you see yourself as a strong person with many goals and talents, you will begin to feel more comfortable with yourself. Feel good about yourself and let your positive attitude shine.
