Between December 15th and January 5th you should take a trip to Swindon Town

Centre to make Analytical Observations of the urban environment using sketches and photographs, as well as collecting

found objects that embody and represent aspects of the Urban environment.

Page 3: Reading the city

Aim:Collect primary source material to work from and use

later in the project.

Objectives: 1. Photograph lots of textures, architectural features,

street furniture, colour pallets.

2. Photograph ‘naturally’ occurring letterforms. E.g. a street lamp looks like a letter. Try and get the whole alphabet at least once.

3. Produce drawings (see activity sheet) from your source material.

4. Collect found items for your Mixed Media Meander (see activity sheet).
