“Repent,” John the Baptist cried out, “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” He told the people of Judea that to prove their sincerity, they should produce good fruit. We should heed his call.

To prepare ourselves for Jesus’ coming, we can begin with an examination of conscience. Let us see when and how we have

failed to produce good fruit and commit to bearing good fruit in the future.

DYNAMIC PARISH

Dream Event: Tuesday, December 10, 7:00PM, RMHS Performing Arts Center

One of the most powerful and life-changing gifts that God has given to each of us is the power to dream. We

are able to look into the future and imagine something better than today, and then return to the present and

work to make that richly imagined future a reality. We’d like to unleash that power of dreaming for the

Reading Catholic Community. On Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 p.m., through our participation in the

Dynamic Parish initiative, we will host our first-ever Dream Event. This is a 90-minute interactive event that

inspires us to embrace the gift of life and share our dreams for our Catholic community. As Dynamic Parish

teaches us, God transforms parishes one person at a time, and if we are ready to help others do the same,

the Church will grow in ways we never could have imagined. We look forward to seeing you there! It is not

mandatory, but will help us manage attendance by registering at www.Reading.Eventbrite.com, or by

scanning here:

Volunteer Opportunities for the Dream Event

Would you like to help bring a great experience to the Reading Catholic Community? Sign up to help out at

the Dream Event, Tuesday, December 10th.

Go to the Reading Catholic website: ReadingCatholic.org

or scan here to sign up with Sign-Up Genius. Thanks! Help with the

Dream Event

Paper registration forms are also available at the church exits. We hope that

you will participate in the Dream Event. Beyond that, we hope the event

then inspires each of us to experience the joy of helping others realize some

of their personal dreams.

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Monday, December 9: Why is the Immaculate Conception - this year - NOT a Holy Day of Obligation?

Immaculate Conception is normally December 8. However, since that is the Second Sunday in Advent 2019,

the celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is transferred to the next day, Monday,

December 9, 2019 and the Day of Obligation is suspended.

into the world and into our lives.

READING CATHOLIC COMMUNITY

Tuesday Evening Rosary

Every Tuesday evenings at 7:00PM at St. Agnes

church, we meet to pray the Rosary. Whatever else

we are doing during Advent to prepare ourselves for

Christmas, it’s a great idea to include the Rosary, the

prayer that leads us to Christ through Mary.

Sacrament of Reconciliation:

Preparing for Our Lord’s Coming

We do many things to get ourselves ready for our

celebration of Christmas: purchase gifts, prepare

Christmas cards, decorate our homes. John's call of

repentance in preparation for Jesus reminds us that

our repentance is another way in which we can

prepare for the Lord's coming and our celebration of

Christmas.

By the second week of Advent, many of us have

already jumped ahead to the celebration of

Christmas. But, when we do this, we miss the

important steps of preparation for the Lord's

coming. The preaching of John found in today's

Gospel Reading reminds us that one way in which we

prepare for Jesus' coming is by our repentance from

sin.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation: A Gift from God:

Saturdays, 2:45pm until 3:45pm at St. Athanasius.

generosity in donating gifts help families and their

children experience a special Christmas morning.
