There is no authoritative body approving or certifying TRLs.

Each TRL should be verified even if it seems obvious.

TRL progress is not a linear or time-boxed process.

TRLs are achieved when their exit criteria are met.

System TRL is the lowest of all sub-system TRLs.

Alteration of CTEs or the system makes a TRL invalid.

TRL 6 requires a prototype whereas TRL 9 requires a product.
