Your truth is greater than our unbelief. Thank you for Your never-ending, constant pursuit of our hearts and minds. You chase us in tender love and with rich truth. You are the good shepherd who leads us to rest and refuge. Give us the courage to believe. Your love holds everything together. Amen. Mary was betrothed (engaged) to be married to an honorable man named: Joseph. When Joseph found out Mary was pregnant, he didn’t: believe. She couldn’t be pregnant because Mary was a: virgin. So God sent an angel to convince him this was good; this was the work of the: Holy Spirit. Joseph believed God and took Mary as his: wife. Q: What did we learn about God? A: God not only desires our obedience but desires for us to know and experience His goodness. Q: What made Joseph an honorable man? A: He wanted to protect Mary and her reputation. (What was Mary’s reputation? What is your reputation at school/work?) He wanted what was best for someone else even if it cost him. Q: Why did Joseph struggle to believe God? Why do we struggle to believe God? A: The news Joseph received was not only improbable but impossible. We struggle to believe that God is good and is working everything for our good and His glory. Q: What allowed Joseph to believe? Why is the work of the Holy Spirit important for us? A: The angel validated the news and convinced Joseph this was good, this was the work of the Holy Spirit.
