10 WORST COUNTRIES FOR WOMEN

I!"ro#$%"&o!'

A common denominator when it comes to equal opportunities for

women, geographical location is of utmost concern and the form of

government that rule one’s country matters most. The laws or decrees that

shield the equal protection and respect for women are paramount

consideration in human rights aspect.

To have quality of life for women can be depicted in a country where

there is basic policy on economics and social conventions mandate a woman

on access to education, healthcare, gainful employment and personal safety.

These concepts can be e!perienced by the women under the developed

countries and in some cases in developing countries where form of

government is of great contribution.

"owever, it is so sad to note that there are many countries in this world

indeed categori#ed by our modern social scientists that are under

undeveloped countries. As presented in this paper entitled in the above, these

ten countries enumerated bears common characteristics.

O()*r+,"&o! ,!# D&)%$))&o!'

Noted as $ observed that there are common basic characteristics that women

in these countries were dignity as human beings equally created by %od, as

we spea& it biblically, have been greatly violated and devastated.

These are the common abuse suffered by women under the ' worst

countries for women, the following(

. )ape. *e all &now that this is an unlawful compelling of a woman

through physical force or duress to have se!ual intercourse with a man

not her husband. $t is beyond the will of a woman to do so. +onsidering

that it is beyond her will, it is considered a violation of her right of

e!istence-. %enital mutilation is a barbaric act of cutting or removing of all or some

of the genital organs, especially e!cision of the clitoris. $ndeed, it is

happening in many countries today-. "$/ infection or A$0S it’s a disease of the immune system

characteri#ed by increased susceptibility to opportunistic infections

caused by a retrovirus and transmitted chiefly to blood or blood

products that enter the body’s bloodstream, especially by se!ual

contact or contaminated hypodermic needles1.

To enumerate a few will lead us into an idea that women suffered these

problem or encountered human rights violation perhaps of the followingconsiderations, to wit(

a. G*o-r,/&%, o%,"&o!. 2ost of worst countries as presented in the

problem belong to the continent of Africa and some Asian +ountries as well as

one in +entral America. *here famine, wars, diseases and conflicts are

common for them in the counties of Somalia, 2ali, +ongo, Sudan and +had.

"aving this scenario, all human rights violations are common and ordinary.

3!cept $raq which is located in 2iddle 3ast and has been in the history long

before that war is persistent in this country with subsequent hostilities due to

the fact that late Saddam "ussien as their leader for many decades was

unstoppable in developing weapons for mass destruction. 4a&istan is along

the Arabian Sea and the %ulf of Oman or located on the crossroad of the

2iddle 3ast. Also, $ndia is located in South Asia and %uatemala is located in

North America. Afghanistan is a landloc&ed located within South Asia and

+entral Asia.

b. For of -o+*r!*!". The head of the state is the president, as the

e!ecutive independent with legislature under )epublic form of government(

+had, Afghanistan, +ongo, %uatemala, and 2ali. 2aybe, their legislature is

not well educated and not empowered to draft policies for the protection of the

rights of their people, especially to champion the equal e!istence for women.

$slamic )epublic of 4a&istan, $ndia and Somalia have common form of

government system. *hile the 5ederal government of $raq is defined under

the current +onstitution as an $slamic, democratic, federal parliamentary

republic. Sudan has a government as 5ederal )epublic. 0escribing the form

of government system among these ten countries will depict what they have

the same thing in common and that is their laws and6or civil policies is beyond

the mandate of human rights advocate in international law on %eneva

+onvention.

c. C$"$r* is another attributes that women in these countries are

vulnerable to oppression, all forms of human abused and worse is genital

mutilation. 7ecause their culture dictated them that only men has better right

and women should not be given equal opportunity to men. That is why the

laws, policies drafted by their legislators are based on their e!isting culture.

d. L,% of *#$%,"&o! as part of culture of mostly of these poor countries,

again due to war, conflict, etc. There is no time to go to school and educate

themselves. 2en are e!pected to participate in war and women are e!pected

to serve the men in times of war. $gnorance and lac& of &nowledge deprived

them to see& empowerment for their people.

Co!%$)&o!'

$t is really hard to change the culture of a country if there is not enough

access to education that leads to economic, political, social development. $f

the country is always at war definitely no multi8national companies will invest

for peace and order is apparent unstable. "ence, no opportunity for

employment, schools to open that will result to high illiteracy to ignorance.

9i&ewise, access to social services is highly poor because of no revenues will

enter into the treasury of a government that will be allocated to medicines,

health education program for women, better sanitation programs to

implement, etc. 4eople tend to depend merely on social grants of the

government, if there is any. 5urthermore, it will matter also what &ind of

natural resources that can be found in the poor and under developed

countries. $t is a matter of crafting the policies that their natural resources will

tend to develop and become wealth and asset of the country. This will lead to

empowerment to women who can fight oppression, any form of abuse and to

fully en:oy equal protection for all. 5reedom is the &ey.
