Vision
To provide “global space learning” for community to learn
and share experiences on implementa:on of ESD from
interna:onal to local community or vice versa.
Long term objec-ve is to develop capacity on sustainable society. While other objec-ves include:
1. To develop partnership on capacity building in RCE and ESD concept;
2. To develop promo:onal system for ESD to increase public awareness on sustainable development;
3. To coordinate events to promote synergy among different actors, network building, and educa:on ac:vi:es related to sustainable development;
4. To develop individual capacity, with focus on communi:es and ins:tu:ons to implant educa:on on sustainable development;
5. To support coordina:on and dissemina:onon policy, research and prac:ce related to educa:on for sustainable development.
Objec:ve
Ac:vi:es • Promo:on, collabora:on, and join research on ESD;
• Expert exchange of ESD; • Organize seminar and workshop on ESD; • To establish “green School/University “; and “Home Reading Programme”
• Ac:on program on ESD; • Teachers training and • Support ins:tu:on and community in curriculum development and pedagogic to help ci:zen and students to develop skill and knowledge needed for living and working sustainably.
• Recommenda:on of Interna:onal Seminar and Workshop on RCE ESD at Hotel Mesra Samarinda early 2008.
• Champions and ins:tu:on involved in the early stage of the establishment among others, Plt. Gub. Kal:m, Rektor Unmul, Ketua DPRD Kal:m, P3M STAIN Samarinda, KPC, PKT, Dinas Pendidikan, Walikota Tarakan, dan Borneo Ins:tute for Interna:onal Studies.
• Mid July 2008 proposal for the establishment was submifed to UNU-‐IAS to be presented to the commifee “ubuntu alliance” consist of world experts on ESD and Diplomat at the UN.
• November 2008 proposal of RCE East Kalimantan accepted and approved with no reserva:on by the commifee ubuntu alliance
• Established as the third RCE in Indonesia ager Bogor (IPB/BIOTROP) and Yogyakarta (UGM)
