Background Discussion Manatee County was awarded certification through the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) in 2011 because of the numerous green efforts that were implemented throughout the County. After the initial certification, the County realized many other sustainability initiatives have occurred and made the decision to apply for Gold status, which was achieved in 2014. FGBC requires recertification every five years and the percentage needed to maintain gold had increased considerably. Manatee County Government received the Florida Green Building Coalition "Plantinum" level for theirmultiple projects and processes that help reduce our carbon footprint by being efficient, environmentallyconscience and diligent. By participating in any of FGBG programs, builders, developers andgovemment officials can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and their residents' welfare. Inaddition, by earning FGBC certification, you distinguish your proiect or community in a better light.
