SENDS OUT MISSIONARY
Unity Baptist Church is proud to announce the sending out of Bro. Lavern Clark as their missionary to Olive Branch, Mis-sissippi. Bro. Lavern and his faithful wife, Dorothy, are very excited about what the future holds for
them, and others, in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Grace for Life Baptist Fellowship is set to have their first service Sunday May 26, 2013 at the Best Western, located at the intersection of Hacks Cross & Interstate 78
in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pearl, Mississippi is co-sponsoring with Unity Baptist Church in this work. Dr. Stephen Sance has pastured Antioch MBC for over twenty years. God has been blessing this very mission-minded church over the past few years. Unity is very excited about the opportunity to work together with this great church.
Bro. Clark is seeking to be put on designated funds through the American Baptist Association as an interstate missionary. Anyone wishing to give towards Bro. Clark’s salary may designate it as such and mail it to: Unity Mission Fund, 2410 Alice Drive, Hattiesburg, MS 39402. Anyone wishing to give to the building fund may designate it as such and mail to same address. Please pray for us as we seek the Lord’s leadership and guidance!

The 2013 Graduation ceremony was a huge success this year! The sanctuary of Unity Baptist Church was packed to point of overflow that evening and the people sang out mightily in praise to the Lord. It was truly a blessing to experience. We had two that graduated with Doctors of Theology, Bro. Barry Carter, pastor of Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Vivian, Louisi-ana, and Bro. Steve Sance, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pearl, Mississippi. Dr. Sance preached a sermon entitled “Would You Go To Nineveh”? He preached out of the Book of Jonah and described the depraved condition of the people of Nineveh. There was not a whole lot of difference in the people of Nineveh in Jonah’s day, and the people that are around us in our world today. The evening was topped off with a time of food and fellow-
ship. The 2012-2013 school year is now in the record book. It has
been a great year with many challenges being met and a few more
to be realized.
On May 5, 2013 Gautier Baptist Church held a ceremony honoring
Brother and Sister Lewallen, for their
many years of service. Brother and
Sister Lewallen will be staying on as
members and are looking forward to
promoting the Mississippi Mission Devel-
opment Program that is sponsored by Gautier Baptist Church. Bro. Chris
Collins, a former student at GCBI, will be their new pastor. I know they
would appreciate our prayers as they make this important transition.
Bro. Mike Griffon awarded Bro. Roger Hurd the first L.B. Wilson Scholarship. This scholarship has been provided by Magnolia Springs Baptist Church in Theodore, Alabama. Bro. Griffon is the son-in-law of the late Dr. Wilson. Bro. Griffon told how he had came from a Catholic background, and the influence that Dr. Wilson had had upon him. Dr. Wilson had taken the time to share Christ with him many times over a cup of coffee early in the morning. Bro. Griffon urged the preachers attending that evening not to give up on people and get discouraged. Because, although he was led to Christ under some-one else’s preaching, Bro. Wilson had planted the seed.

GCBI ANNUAL SCRAMBLES
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The fellowship honoring Bro. Elester Raines for 65 years of
service in the Gospel ministry was held at Camp Glenwood on Saturday
May 11, 2013. There was a good turn out with many friends and family of
Bro. Raines in attendance. Everyone had a fun time of telling stories and
reminiscing about the old days.
Bro. Bryan Sellers was the guest speaker and did a wonderful job
of reminding everyone about “The Keys to a Successful Ministry.” (1)
Stick to the Message (2) Hold to an Uncompromising Stand (3) Hold to
an Undeniable Hope. Everyone had a great time of fellowship that day
and the meal afterward was fantastic.
The Annual GCBI Scrambles Golf Tournament was held at Oka-toma Golf Course again this year. Left to Right: Debbie Miller, Lowell McAfee, Steve Miller, Christian Brady, Justin McCormick, Kermit Groat, Tom Scarlett, Doris Scarlett and Bubba Miller driving the cart. We were down in numbers this year but we couldn’t have had a better time. Team Scarlett came away with the trophies this year.
