OBJECTIVES OF RAWEP1. To gain knowledge and experience on the operational aspects of agricultural

technology being used by the farmers through field visits.2. To develop communication skills in interns by effective use of extension

methods to make them better extension worker through group discussion, Kisan Chaupal.

3. To help the interns to understand and appreciate the agricultural problems of the village with special reference to constraints in the application of latest farm technology through interaction with the farmers.

4. To acquaint the interns with the functioning of various agricultural researches, development, agro-based marketing industries, extension agencies and other allied organizations involved in rural development.

Mint (Mentha sp):- used in toothpaste for dental problem and in refreshments like menthol candy.Aloe vera :- used in cosmetics.Coleus (Coleus forgikorii):- used as a remedy for kidney stone problem.Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexousus):- used in tea inplace of lemon & for citral extraction.Kalmegh :- used as a remedy for diabetes and jaundice.Tulsi (Oscimum sanctum):-grown as a holy plant and has various medicinal properties.Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera):- used for treatment of hypertension.Periwinkle (Vinca rosea):-Sarpagandha (Rauwolfia serpentine):-

Soil Organic Carbon Determination Reagents used-K₂Cr₂O₇,Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate,diphenylamine indicator.

Procedure-2gm soil sample taken in 500ml conical flask and 10ml K₂Cr₂O₇ is added.10ml H₂SO₄ also added.it is then left for half an hour.then 200ml of dist.water and 10ml orthophosphoric acid added A pinch of NaCl and 1ml diphenyl amine added through pipette.It is then titrated with Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate.

6.TRAINING OF FARMERS ON PRIME MINISTER CROP INSURANCE SCHEMEMAIN FEATURES :- Less premium high insurance scheme. Cereals, Pulses , Oilseeds and horticultural crops are included . Premium rates –KHARIF- 2% & RABI- 1.5%. Full coverage will be given i.e no reduction in the cost of fertilizer and pesticides. Insurance coverage is given even after harvesting in case of cyclones and failure or excess of

rainfall. Satellite technology will be used to calculate the amount of crop loss.

MAJOR CONSTRAINTS IN CROP PRODUCTION IN ARARIA REGION

Unavailability of quality seeds and fertilizers.Lack of adoption of modern techniques of crop production.Lack of mechanized farming especially in groundnut harvesting.Depletion of soil health due to paddy-maize cropping pattern.Lack of marketing channel of agricultural produces.Unavailability of labours.Lack of cooperative societies and social fragmentation.Lack of pure water for retting of jute.Soil deterioration due to heavy application of inorganic fertilizers.Lack of nutrients in soil mainly Sulphur, Zinc and Boron.

MY EXPERIENCE AT RAWE

The students get aware about the real situation of crop production package and practices.We get to know about the available natural resourse for production of crop.Knowledge about the various tradition and indigenous technologies.Development of leadership qualities and public speaking skill.We get to know about the constraints in technology transfer process.Combination of agriculture with livestock production & it’s management , poultry, mushroom cultivation, cottage industry, etc. as a subsidiary occupation may help in improving the socio-economic status of the farm people
