Rapid Organisation of Health Research DataProject
ROHRD Project Objectives To develop metadata for current and planned PCPH data
sources To develop a research data management plan for PCPH To integrate the PCPH primary care and national data
repositories within the same framework To create a generic, extensible data access strategy and
database design To produce policies and forms for reuse of aggregate
health research data originally derived from Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES)
Metadata strategy

Help! (employ a data manager) Metadata: continue exploration of
SNOMED-CT in Protege as a metadata resource
Developed a custom metadata format for medical data sets at Imperial’s Faculty of Medicine
Using EndNote and OWL (authored in Protégé) as representation formats
SNOMED CT terminology for domain annotations public health domain derived from the
UK Public Health Language comprehensive, scientifically-validated
content Can map to other international
standards

Actions from the project: our RoaDMaP
Help! (employ a data manager) Metadata: continue exploration of SNOMED-CT in
Protege as a metadata resource Use requirements study findings Obtain approval for migration of sensitive data to a
super secure server provided by ICT Further refine the database query portal and
encourage takeup Consider whether we can use DataStage and
DataBank Then integrate data in new database design Policies change- see what’s in the new HES protocol Encourage corporate development of MRD projects Offer training to PCPH staff
