What is Rap music?• Rap Music (Also known a Hip-Hop) is a music genre created in South

Africa in the 70s. Rap Music is generally popular among the African/African-American heritage.

• Rap Music is usually poetic and contains rhyming words. Most rap music created could be about the artist’s or someone else’s life, it could also be about how they feel and what is happening around them. They also contain a constant beat which acts as the base for the song

• Rap artists are usually known as MC’s which stands for Microphone Controllers.

• Rap music also ties in with certain elements such as Djing, beatboxing.

• Rap music created within the 70s to the 90s is known as ‘Old-School’ or ‘Old-Skool’ Rap music.
