They all worked extremely hard and well and truly earned their day out in Griffith to end the week. Students in Years 3-6 saw the performance of the Midnight Gang at the Griffith Regional Theatre, followed by a lunch treat at Belvedere Pizzeria. It was great to see our pile of lost property reduce in size during the week, with most items finding their way home again. Please make sure all clothing is labelled so we can attempt to send things home in the right bags. If you are missing something, please remind your children to have a look in the lost property. Thank you to Mrs Munro for giving everything a wash to freshen it up. This week, all students will participate in National Simultaneous Storytime at 11am on Wednesday 19 th May. Hopefully, we will be hearing and watching the book Give Me Some Space! being read by astronaut, Dr Shannon Walker from the International Space Station. Fingers crossed technology is our friend on the day! Mrs Anderson has also organised a Scholastic Book Fair to coincide with the event. It will be open on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am- 3:30pm. We’ll finish the week with a trip to Lake Cargelligo for the Lake Small Schools Athletics Carnival. Students have been getting some practice in at school and we’ve been reminding students about the importance of participation, giving things our best go and contributing to our school team on the day. The carnival is a great opportunity for everyone to participate. Just a reminder that parents are to arrange transport and students who are entered in the 1500m race will need to arrive early at 8.30am. If your child/ren need to pull out of the race, please let us know so we can inform the organising school. Keep up the great work!

This week, students will focus on the ‘g’ sound and continue to investigate adjectives and similes.

We have been constructing a family’s book for our classroom during writing. Students have enjoyed experimenting with similes throughout their writing. This week, we will be focusing on publishing our book with the use of technology.

Subtraction continues to be our focus for Mathematics and counting back to find the total.

Thank you to those families who have already completed our History Journal. I will continue to send this home for those who have not yet completed it.

First off, sorry that students in 3-6 did not receive their Personal Interest Project assignments, as advertised. We have had a change of plans. Instead, this week I will be sending home information about the REIN Public Speaking Competition coming up later in the term. All students in 3-6 will begin working on their speech at home on one of three topics (to be advised). For spelling this week, we are focusing on the ‘g, gg’ sound. For Stage 2 Numeracy we are looking at Fractions and Decimals and Time. This week we will also be filming our audition tape for KROP!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Reading Awards Reminder: students can earn $ to spend at Bookclub or the upcoming Book Fair. Keep Reading, and remember to complete your reading journals and submit to your teacher each Friday.
