I look forward to their contact. I did ask our Econ. Develop. director Tieg Whaley-Smith to reach out to Cudahy. You may not be aware that Cudahy has properties on the Counties Excess Property Sales list far in excess of all other communities. I was told Whaley-Smith would reach out to and discuss with Brian Biernat, a name I gave him. You may not be aware that I chair the Economic Development Committee and am concerned with not only the list of Cudahy properties on our foreclosure properties list but development in general. I have hosted the South Shore Option, an economic development forum for just our South Shore for three years. I look forward to working with you on all of these issues , but I have

never heard anyone make the complaint about Layton Avenue that you provided. Pat Jursik

Supervisor Jursik,

Cudahy Mayor John Hohenfeldt along with Cudahy Economic Development Director Brian Biernat will have to give you specifics. I know in the past the access and improvement issues have impacted the Iceport land and that has been going on for some time.

I have added Cudahy Economic Development Director Brian Biernat and Mary Jo Lange City of Cudahy PE Director of Public Works as they should also be able to give examples over the years.

Thank you,

Alderman: This is the first such complaint I have ever had about Layton Avenue. I've followed a number of prospects and then failures and it has never been about the county denying access to Layton Ave . Could you be more specific on when this has happened? Every time I or any person has asked for county help regarding issues on Layton Avenue, I have only had excellent response. Pat Jursik

Milwaukee County Executive Abele,

I am writing to you in hopes that you can help out Milwaukee County by helping Cudahy. Think of Cudahy as a finger on the hand called Milwaukee County and together we function correctly.

Layton Ave. is a Milwaukee County run road and in the past the Milwaukee County Transportation, Public Works and Transit Committee has been less than helpful when it comes to allowing transportation and development to flourish in Cudahy thus Milwaukee County by throwing up roadblocks with the CANNOT do attitude when the City of Cudahy wants to make capital improvements like access to Layton Ave. or driveways to and from Layton Ave. or moving a stoplight 3 to 4 feet. These roadblocks stymies development and even the major developers know this to be true and shy away if the development happens to be on a County Road.

Cudahy has a potential buyer/developer of land on Layton Ave., yet these roadblocks surely will crop up. Now this isn’t a new issue as it has been going on for quite some time. One of the board members is from Cudahy and that hasn’t even helped.

I have included the Milwaukee County Transportation, Public Works, and Transit Committee members, Chairwoman Dimitrijevic, Cudahy Mayor John Hohenfeldt along with Cudahy Alderman Justin Moralez as this affects his district and mine , all in hopes of developing some dialog.

County Executive Abele, I am asking for your help to help make Cudahy more prosperous and help Milwaukee County as well in the process . Our Mayor, John Hohenfeldt, could fill you in on specifics and much more detail. I have listed his contact information to make it easier and to expedite things .

Please help us I implore you.

I look forward to good cooperation and excellent relationships between the City of Cudahy and Milwaukee County. As my mentor Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan taught me , praise the cooperation in the media and let the media also know when there are roadblocks put up . My friends at Channels 4 and 6 along with my good friend Jay Weber of WISN 1130 would like to know either way when it happens. I would like nothing more than to be singing praises when the time(s) comes. In the end, all I care about is that the taxpayers get what they pay for , have representatives who care about their-the People’s interests and they have a voice in what is being done. We are all instruments of the people, doing their wishes and wills and representing the body as a whole with the best interest of the whole in mind. This email chain and intent was to ask for help, point out in the past cooperation was lacking (I know the Cudahy Mayor is working on specific dates), but more importantly to open up dialog and to make sure we are all on the same page – the one marked “In the Best Interest of the People , For the People, By the People”!

Thanks for the nice words Randy, You really do not need to name drop, your name speaks for itself. As always, I will advance the interests of Cudahy from the county economic development perspective and am well situated to do so as Chair. I worked with former Mayor Tony Day in his development of the Bakery project on Layton. Again, unless you can be specific, there has been no "lack of cooperation" in the past, none. I will not permit this opinion to become part of the record going forward unless you can pin down an event. You stated the stop lights were not synchronized on Layton Ave. and yet my recent e-newsletter specifically addressed this and a traffic study of Layton Ave . was undertaken by our Dept. of DOT. I do appreciate Sup. Alexander's interest in my district , but I want to assure her that I have it under control and she can take care of the far North-West side of the county, geographically, the farthest removed corner of any other supervisor. I'd also like to say that I have excellent cooperation from Jason Haas and Marina Dimitrijevic, both of Bay View and airport area of Milw. where our districts touch. Together we work on behalf of the entire South Shore. Thanks for your continued interest. I know all of us are working together for the benefit of Cudahy and our South Shore. Pat Jursik

Supervisor Jursik, My intent was/is not to be name dropping, just letting the group know that the media is always interested in both success and failures and many times the difference comes down to effort. I have contacts in the media and would love nothing more to deliver a positive story of cooperation amongst the City of Cudahy and Milwaukee County along with cooperation of people coming together to do the people’s will and move development forward . I also felt the need to share with others that Alderman Donovan has been instrumental in mentoring me in the past. His style of remembering who he works for is how I model myself in this capacity. Supervisor Jursik, while you may know plenty about me, others here may not. I also want to stress that my personal feeling while I am doing the will of the people is set aside and Cudahy Mayor Hohenfeldt can state to that very fact. We all wear multiple hats and must keep in check the ones that we are not wearing at the time. Yes we are a product of our past and events that have happen to use or from us, but we have to try to the best of our ability to hold them at bay when we are doing the will of the people. In this day and age, Cudahy, Milwaukee County, the Board and all parties need positive stories and outcomes as the media of today prefers negative outcomes to sell their product. While we as elected officials need to be more mindful of who are real bosses are – the taxpaying citizens. We should NEVER feel we know better than the taxpaying citizens and always ask ourselves, what would they want me to do?In addition, answers, ideas and solutions know(s) no boundaries, nor should it. That is why dialog amongst the board and group is vital and necessary to achieve the maxim outcome and I welcome all help and ideas regardless of location be it geographic or not. We cannot and should not exclude anyone willing to help, to do so would be shortsighted and not in the best effort for the citizens.Cooperation comes first by asking, listening, then sharing and talking and finally by action.

Thank you,

Thanks for the nice words Randy, You really do not need to name drop, your name speaks for itself. As always, I will advance the interests of Cudahy from the county economic development perspective and am well situated to do so as Chair. I worked with former Mayor Tony Day in his development of the Bakery project on Layton. Again, unless you can be specific, there has been no "lack of cooperation" in the past, none. I will not permit this opinion to become part of the record going forward unless you can pin down an event . You stated the stop lights were not synchronized on Layton Ave . and yet my recent e-newsletter specifically addressed this and a traffic study of Layton Ave . was undertaken by our Dept. of DOT. I do appreciate Sup. Alexander's interest in my district, but I want to assure her that I have it under control and she can take care of the far North-West side of the county, geographically, the farthest removed corner of any other supervisor. I'd also like to say that I have excellent cooperation from Jason Haas and Marina Dimitrijevic , both of Bay View and airport area of Milw. where our districts touch. Together we work on behalf of the entire South Shore. Thanks for your continued interest. I know all of us are working together for the benefit of Cudahy and our South Shore. Pat Jursik

Supervisor Alexander,

Thank you,

Randy Hollenbeck

Hi Randy,

Although Cudahy is not my district, I know that I make decisions that affect the entire County. Please know that economic development and common-sense government are both very important to me.

It seems as if Sup. Jursik has responded to you and that you will be working together to achieve better communication and some solutions , but please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of some specific assistance .

Regards,

Milwaukee County Executive Abele,

I am writing to you in hopes that you can help out Milwaukee County by helping Cudahy. Think of Cudahy as a finger on the hand called Milwaukee County and together we function correctly.

Layton Ave. is a Milwaukee County run road and in the past the Milwaukee

Page 35: Randy Hollenbeck's emails to various Milwaukee County officials

County Transportation, Public Works and Transit Committee has been less than helpful when it comes to allowing transportation and development to flourish in Cudahy thus Milwaukee County by throwing up roadblocks with the CANNOT do attitude when the City of Cudahy wants to make capital improvements like access to Layton Ave. or driveways to and from Layton Ave. or moving a stoplight 3 to 4 feet.

Continuing down the path of having discussions that hopefully lead to action , I was hoping this group can get the ball rolling.

On September 15, 2004 I talked to the State DOT about increasing the speed on the 794 Lake Parkway from 40 MPH to 50 MPH to make it uniform with I-794.

At the time I was told it would be considered if the crash data was collected for 5 years and it showed it could be done safely. It has been almost 9 years and I would like to get a discussion going about it and see if we cannot get it increased. And that was after talking with DOT’s Neil Windsor in 1999/2000 that the DOT needed to see some crash data before upping the speed .

Alderman,

I appreciate that you have a right to email anyone you wish to , but theSupervisor's suggestion was a good one. I represent 6 communities. Thatmeans there are about 40 Mayors, Alderman, Presidents and Trustees in mydistrict alone. It wouldn't be impractical for them to widely copy otherson every local issue they are working on or thinking about .

I didn't respond with this advice to your first string of emails but hopedthe mass emails wouldn't become a pattern.

On this issue I would tend to agree with you about the relatively lowspeed, but you might want to work with your County Supervisor , as she isyour representative, it would be far more effective and efficient.

Milwaukee County Executive Abele, Milwaukee County Supervisor Chairwoman Dimitrijevic, Members of the GAB and League of Municipalities,I am emailing this to all of you after the claims of Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik that I am/have been abusive in emails and am willing to forward you all of them for you to see that is a false accusation been leveled from me. (this accusation is below)I have already turned over all the emails to Dan Bice of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik has a personal issue with me stemming well before I was elected Cudahy Alderman. While I can put those issues away she is demonstrating that she cannot. While I included the emails to all the members of the Milwaukee County Transportation Committee along with people to whom it would impact and /or matter to and asked that we all bring some dialog and talk about some issues and or questions that impact Cudahy and Milwaukee County . All of them are relevant to the situation given they are on the board /committee directly or it impacts them in other ways. Her claim that it is a mass email is an over exaggeration.Furthermore her attempts to censor me are just wrong and she is bullying me . Her actions and emails back to me have been very unprofessional and I want to put on record that I am filing this complaint and asking for a retraction of her statement and formal apology from Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik .If any of you would like the emails, I would gladly forward them to you. This false accusation, the bullying and attempts at censoring me must stop and must come with a formal apology from Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik .

Respectfully,

Randy Hollenbeck

Mary Jo: Alderman Hollenbeck has become abusive with his e-mails; I've asked him to stop sending all of his Cudahy e-mails to multiple supervisors and

other recipients, but he has refused. I have notified his office that I will no longer continue to communicate with him. I know this is a drastic stop to take for an elected officials, but the alderman does not understand proper boundaries. You may contact me directly at any time regarding legitimate county issues. Thank you. Pat

It has been over a week now since I sent my email about a formal complaint against Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik.

I had one person contact me off the record, in private and confidently telling me this is unprecedented, well the actions of Supervisor Jursik to censor, bully and act in the manner she did is as well. I think it goes to the current state the board is in with the secret meetings and the threating “We will have your head on a stick”. This is a dysfunctional board who is more worried about their own power and clinging to it rather than the true function of the board and the taxpayers.

Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik demonstrated with her , “Mine, mine” attitude and you cannot talk to others only me arrogance , that she in fact no longer understands the public servant role nor does she exemplify the willingness to work well with others or allow others to have a say or contribute.

Ultimately, this is a situation of a public servant who has failed to show up under crisis and do the right thing and apologize and instead has chosen to become as silent as the WWII Silent Hunter Submarine groups . At a time when most of the public are resolutely cynical about our politicians , Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik and the Milwaukee County Board drama reminds us of the leadership qualities we so desperately need and want in our leaders , and in ourselves, if we want to have a better future and how she and many members of the Milwaukee County Board are lacking those qualities .

Let me state this, just because this is unprecedented doesn’t change the facts. Supervisor Jursik is out of control and has crossed the line . She is escalating her own drama on this, as with action and no action there are consequences just like words or no words have consequences as well . Given the fact that Supervisor Jursik has not attempted to publicly apology goes to her character and demonstrates that she feels her actions of censoring , bullying and willingness to cut the means of a public voice to her office for which she represents, is “A-OK”. Is this the status quo? Is this the message you are all okay with? Does she speak for all of you?

All I am looking for is a public apology and reassurance from Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik that she will stop the censoring , the bullying and the unwillingness of working with others, is that too much to ask for?
