Learn, make friends, and have fun this
summer!
Skills ClassesNeed to brush up on math or improve your study skills?
Basic Math: Focus on basic operations and word problems with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Pre-Algebra: Learn about equations, the use of rational numbers, inequalities, and functions. Connect algebraic functions to geometry.
Study Skills: Discover the methodology of proper study habits, what works and what does not. Practice organizational, note-taking, and reading skills, and learn proper research and writing skills.

Enrichment CoursesLove history, music, or writing? How about computer animation or science?
Digital Media: This course introduces web-based programs and applications. Learn the basics of digital art, photography, presentation and computer-aided design, and explore careers in the digital field.
Music Technology: Learn how to play piano using R-MA’s MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) lab. Each work station features a full 88-key keyboard with weighted keys and alternate instrumentation. Compose, play, and record your own music!
The curriculum for each of the following enrichment courses will center around this year’s theme: Nature and the Environment.
Science Explorer*: Explore the geology and flora and fauna of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. Hands-on learning will also focus on the ecosystems of the Shenandoah River.
Reading and Writing: Enrich your reading comprehension and writing skills with this workshop-style class focusing on literary pieces centered on Nature and the Environment.
History in Action*: Discover the rich culture and history of the Shenandoah Valley and the Piedmont. Examine the National Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the Smithsonian programs in the context of U.S. History.
*Note: There are three class periods each day. History-in-Action and Science Explorer each run for two periods; students taking one of these classes can only choose one additional course.

weeks or four weeks. Take two to three courses in the morning, and have fun in the afternoon

Application Process To be considered for admission, students must complete a summer program application and submit copies of their transcripts and one letter of recommendation from a school official. An in-person or phone/Skype interview will also be arranged. The application should be completed online (www.rma.edu/Apply-On-line). Financial aid is not available for R-MA’s summer programs.
