PTSA DONATION DRIVE

Randall Middle School PTSA   |  16510 Fishhawk Blvd, Lithia, FL 33547  |  [email protected]  |  813-740-3900  |  www.randallptsa.org

In light of the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, and the continued problems that have affected our community  and those around us, the Randall Middle PTSA  has decided to postpone its scheduled Fall Fundraiser, originally scheduled for last Friday, September 22, to concentrate on our ever-important Donation Drive and our Community Business Partners Program.  Funds raised will not only support the programs and services that are only possible by your support for our students and faculty, but it will also allow our PTSA to provide much needed resources to other PTSA’s in our area, who are in much need of many resources at this time.

We invite you to join our campaign to help the community by contributing to our Donation Drive if you haven’t already done so and/or by becoming a Community and Business Partner.  A Community and Business Partnership with our PTSA is mutually beneficial as it shows your support of our students and school, but also allows our PTSA to show our support for your business or organization.  Attached is information on both the Donation Drive (ends October 19th) and our Community and BusinessPartnership Program.

We thank you in advance for your support that allow us the ability for our PTSA to support our needed programs and to support others in need.  Together we can make a real difference, by working together and by reminding our students that what we do as a PTSA, really can make a difference. And at this time, our community and surrounding, really need our support. We are rescheduling our Fall Fundraiser, which is also critically important, for a date in the near future when it is a more appropriate.  In the meantime, every dollar helps.  Thank you in advance for helping us to teach our children, through your donation and partnership, that we will can and will make a difference.

For more details on the Donation Drive please go to:  https://goo.gl/i1Ku3u

RMS PTSA SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIESThe Randall Middle School PTSA invites you to partner with our school and help advance our mission to “make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all of our children”. It is also an opportunity for community partners to have an active part in supporting our children’s future and to enjoy the benefits that come from recognition of their support of our school.

Please take a moment today and consider supporting our community’s children with a tax-deductible donation. Below is a list of our Community and Business Partner Sponsor Packages available that can increase your marketing exposure in this community. Your support will provide a resource for our school and PTSA to continue our mission and to help other PTSA’s in our community that are in need of our support at this time!

The Patriot Day display, honoring thevictims of 9/11, will be put up on Monday, November 6 and it will remain up for the Veterans Day holiday. While that date seems far away, it is never too late to carry out this project. On that Monday, we will also renew efforts to collect high need items for James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and their supporting facilities.

For now, the RAYS will turn to the more immediate needs created by Hurricane Irma. The Randall Area Youth Service (R.A.Y.S.) Program, along with Seeds of Hope, would like to help Randall area families who need assistance as a result of Hurricane Irma before offering assistance outside of our community. Once we have seen to our local families in need, we will turn to assisting others as our resources and reach can allow. And, when hurricane season is behind us, we will remember those we lost on 9/11 and honor those who have served our country in the years before and since that fateful day.

You will receive a club pass at your first meeting to use to get in through the front office after 8:00A.M. The RAYS service-learning students will guide you in the weekly activities.

Each week, on Tuesday, we will post a poll to see who will attend the Thursday Workshop. This will help us plan for materials and supplies. Please check Edsby on Wednesday night for changes in location or emergency cancellation. At your first meeting, you will also receive an attendance card. You will need to bring this to every workshop to have it stamped (or stickered). If you are collecting hours for another service group, you can show Dr. Verdi your attendance card once per quarter so she may sign off on your club service log.

Also, we welcome ideas for RAYS Workshop! We are always looking for quick service activities that can be completed in 30-45 minutes. If you have an idea, share it on the Edsby group. Hope to see you on Thursday!

R.A.Y.S WORKSHOP: Thursdays @ 8:00 A.M.

RAYS stands for Randall Area Youth Service. It is a weekly service opportunity open to any and all Randall students!

Here is the important information for you to be aware of in September:

1. Please be sure you’re regularly checking both the student’s Edsby account as well as the parent’s account because there is different information on each of them. Keep in touch with teachers via email in order to ensure your children are doing well. More information can be found at mySPOT at myspot.sdhc.k12.fl.us

2. Students have three opportunities each semester to pass their classes. They need to earn at least two points each semester for each core class which includes 1 st quarter, 2 nd quarter and the semester exam. An A is worth 4 points, a B is 3 points, a C is 2 points, a D is 1 point and an F is 0 points. Of course, it’s best to earn at least A’s and B’s in high school credit classes in order to keep that GPA up.

3. Conference night has been changed to Thursday 9/28 from 5 to 7 pm so please meet with teachers in the classes where your children may be having difficulties.

4. Our theme this year is that Randall is a family and we’re all here to help each other succeed!

5. You can keep up on the happenings at Randall through parent links that are sent out at least weekly by Ms. Mawhinney, the principal, but you need to have an email address in our computer system. You can also get lots of information through this newsletter and through Edsby and through our school’s website at randall.mysdhc.org and on our electronic marquee in the front of the school.

6. Ms. Miller is the 8 th grade counselor and can be reached at [email protected] or at 740-3900 x255. Ms. Roberts is the 6 th grade counselor and can be reached at [email protected] or at 740-3900 x233. Ms. Richards is the 7 th grade counselor and can be reached at [email protected] or at 740-3900 x231. Email is probably the easiest way to reach the counselors since they are in and out of their offices frequently. In the guidance office we also have Ms. Hutchings, the Reading Coach, and she can be reached at [email protected] or at 740-3900 x234. Our Military Family Life Counselor is Ms. Alsing, and she’s at Randall Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. She can be reached at [email protected] or at 740-3900 x235. Our psychologist is Ms. Propst, and she’s at Randall on Thursdays, Fridays and every other Wednesday. She can be reached at [email protected] or at 740-3900 x236. Our social worker is Dr. Randall, and she’s at Randall on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She can be reached at [email protected] or at 740-2900 x236.

Hillsborough County Public Schools will convert four Early Release Days into regular school days to make up for missed classroom time due to Hurricane Irma.

School will NOT dismiss an hour early on these Mondays: October 23rd, October 30th, November 6th, and November 13th. Those will be full-length days.

This change to these four Monday Early Release Days in a row will allow students at all grade levels to meet the state's requirements for time spent in class during the first semester.

Seven school days were missed because of Hurricane Irma. But Hillsborough County Public Schools builds additional instructional time into its calendar each year. That extra time allows our district to make up all of its state-required time with this change of making four Early Release Days into normal days.

Changing Early Release Days was the most popular option by far in a survey directed toward district staff last week, with 78% of respondents saying it was their preferred option to make up for missed time.

The district's leadership recognizes that Early Release Days provide valuable planning time for teachers, so this option was coordinated with the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association, to make sure it would preserve other teacher work days and vacation days, while also allowing our students to get the class time they need.

Please visit the District Website by clicking here for more information.
