This can be achieved by selecting the right tube diameter, speed, revs, degree of filling and the screw’s play at the wall. It is also important that the systems in front of and after the screw are not allowed to adversely affect the weighing. Both the in-feed and out-feed of the screw must therefore be linked to the rest of the system with a flexible sleeve. The following aspects also deserve close attention: Position of the drive with respect to the power sensor; Length of the screw; Determining the weight of the full and empty screw; Determining the location of the centre of gravity of the screw and drive; Calculating, with the help of the principle of moments, the optimum point of application for introducing power into the power sensor; Determining the type and capacity of the power sensor; Dimensions of the weighing frame. Remote Scale Monitor (RSM) The Ramsey Remote Scale Monitor (RSM) program makes it possible to communicate with the Micro-Tech instruments either directly via serial communications (RS-485) or via a modem. The keyboard and display of the Micro-Tech can be displayed and operated on the PC. One possible application of this feature is to use it with instruments located at a great distance or in hazardous places, or to provide remote technical support. Some functions are: Collecting data from the Micro-Tech instruments Operating the instruments remotely Generating reports Generating trend curves Printing reports from the PC Performing set-up and calibration procedures. RSM was developed for Windows 95. Minimum system requirements: Pentium 133 MHz PC and a monitor with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. The Micro-Tech 2105 is not just a weightintegrator, it is also a dosing unit fordynamic weighing systems. The measured product stream is comparedwith a preset desired product stream (setpoint). The accuracy of a screw weighingsystem is heavily dependent on thespecifications of the screw conveyor.Nothing very much can be changed inthe weighing set-up of an existing screw.That’s why we prefer to supply a completesystem, in which the screw can be optimally dimensioned. In such cases aweighing accuracy from ± 1% of fullscalevalues is easily achievable.

The 10-20s weighing frame is derivedfrom the well-known 10-20 belt weighingframe. This weighing frame has alreadyproved its reliability and accuracy forover20years.Onthefrontoftheweighing frame are two pivot joints between which the in-feed side of the weighing screw is suspended. To ensure an accurate weighing it is essential that the pivot joints continue to function properly. The rear of the weighing frame contains a power sensor on which the

out-feed side of the weighing screw is suspended. The signal from the power sensor is a measure of the weight of product in the screw, expressed in kg/m.

Speed sensor, model 60-12c

The 60-12c digital sensor is connectedto the shaft of the screw by a coupling.The signal from the speed sensor is ameasure of the screw speed, expressedin m/s.

Micro-Tech integrator/Total counter,model MT-2101

The Micro-Tech 2101 is a weight integrator for dynamic weighing systems.By integrating the mV signal of the powersensor(s) (weighing frame) with the pulsesignal of the speed sensor the MT-2101can generate a readout for the productstream in, for example, tons/hour.
