Summer Fun~ from Mrs. Crystal Reece There are many opportunities for our Middle School Students to have fun while continuing to learn this summer. Here are a few that may be of special interest to you. Others will be posted as information is available. Check out these Summer Programs: v The Phillip O. Berry Academy Information Technology Department will offer a weeklong summer STEM program to increase awareness about IT education and careers for Middle School GIRLS during the week of June 15th from 8 am- noon. v The Shelton Challenge is a six day residential summer experience for ris-ing freshman,

sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school. The core curricu-lum focuses on Leadership

Roles, Team Building, Leadership Styles, Social Responsibility, Integ-rity as a Leader, Public

Speaking, and Goal Setting. There are several locations for the camp this year in NC:

Raleigh, Greenville, Charlotte, Rocky Mount, and Fayetteville. Requirements: Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. They will accept applications until the

South Meck World Language Magnet T-shirt Order Information!

South Meck's Online School Store is offering pre-orders of the World Language Magnet tshirts - http://

southmeckhsptsa.weebly.com/school-spirit-store.html. As these are custom printed, the order deadline is end-of-

day May 15 to guarantee distribution by the June 1 week.

This is applicable to 9th grade students/parents from Waddell and Collinswood. On the PayPal form where it indi-

cates "Language Teacher Name", we ask the parents to identify "Collinswood" or "Waddell" so delivery arrange-

ments may be made.

as Land’s End, Gap, Gymboree, Crewcuts, and Children’s Place. There are skirts, pants, jumpers, shorts,

sweaters and shirts; sizes range from 4T up to size 14. And the best part? EACH ITEM OF CLOTHING IS ONLY

$1.00!

Please Note: the closet will now be open on the FIRST Wednesday of the Month from 8:15am-10:15am

and any additional days will be announced on the Facebook page. The closet will also be open during spe-

cial events at school. Location: PTSA Closet (located directly across from the Gymnasium)

All funds raised go directly to the PTSA - checks and cash are accepted.

Electronic Resources in the Media Center: Check one out today!

The Waddell Media Center has 275 electronic books in our media collection. Many books have audio components

and the book is read to you. Some of the books can even be read in foreign languages. Ebooks can be used on lap-

tops, tablets, and other electronic devices. Open the Horizon Information Portal and search "electronic resource"
