It has been an eventful quarter for Ramboll India. It is also with great pleasure that the team presents before you a special edition of EXPRESS featuring the first RIN Annual Awards. The Awards Night brought to the fore the unarguable fact that our employees are giving shape to a robust culture grounded on integrity, excellence and innovation, and a culture that recognises commitment and achievement. I want to reassert that each and every one of you is a winner in our growth story.

The journey this past quarter has been a noteworthy one, underlined by some significant project wins. There were two major wins by the Transport Unit i.e. the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) and Gammon’s project of widening the two lane Udhampur to Ramban section of National Highway-1A in Jammu and Kashmir to four lanes. Apart from being projects of national significance, the Gammon project is especially important as it is for the first time that Ramboll India’s Domestic Transport team has relied on the skill sets in the Ramboll Engineering Centre to deliver a project. In the Buildings sector, Ramboll is playing a pivotal role right from the schematic design stage to the completion stage of the high-rise Beaumonte Towers in Mumbai. Our Telecom team also bagged a mega project to supply tubular towers to Reliance Industries for pan-India deployment.

I am happy to share with you that Ramboll India is playing a pivotal role in shaping the dialogue on Smart Liveable Cities in India. Recently, at the IIT- Bombay Alumni Association’s Global Business Forum – a platform of policymakers, industrialists, investors and students– I was joined by our Group Market Director for Planning & Urban Design Neel Strøbæk to engage with the audience to identify and act upon the ‘liveability’ factor for developing a Smart City on ground.

Message from MD’s Desk

The last quarter was also special because it marked the 70th anniversary of Ramboll. Seventy years ago, when Børge Johannes Rambøll and Johan Georg Hannemann founded Ramboll, they thought of their employees to be united, fully committed to a common goal, rooted in a humanitarian spirit and unshakable mutual trust. And we are today what they cherished for: wearing a badge of high ethical standards with a sense of responsibility and awareness to our obligations towards the society we live in.

Enjoy your read!

Best Regards,

Turning ‘Make in India’ into a reality

Ramboll India recognised at 2015 TISS Leapvault CLO Awards

To become a manufacturing hub, India needs a crystal clear strategy and favourable policies for the manufacturing sector to take off. There is an urgent need for a close dialogue and partnership between government and the private sector.

Speaking at a panel discussion on “Succeeding in a tough environment and what are the best locations for Make in India – The idea of states and cities”, Ramboll India’s Managing Director Pawan Maini stated that “India suffers from infrastructure deficit on many counts – from the lack of efficient roads, ports and other distribution

The award was received by Mukesh Ramsaroop Pritamdasani, Buildings Director Ramboll India and Rajat Kapoor, Training & Development Manager Ramboll India.

A significant effort has been made since 2014 in designing and delivering the best induction and on-boarding programme to the different business units in Ramboll India. “The three-month long learning and journey for the new joiners in Ramboll helps them to better understand and live the Ramboll values, and also become aware of the functionalities of the company’s business units,” said Geetu Shukla, Director, Human Resource, Ramboll India.

During the discussion, Pawan highlighted that for foreign investors, manufacturing in India has become a vain hope as land, labour and archaic laws have escalated into a major deterrent.

Exploring different cultures and travelling is what pulled Cecilia Susanne Orosz to India in 2007, apart from taking up challenges, which she feels “is the alley to participation and progress in our lives.”

Having recently completed 26 years of service with Ramboll, Cecilia would like to be an Indian in her next life. She finds the contrasts in India “amazing and amusing” and finds things happening at a fast pace.

From Chennai to Mumbai and then Gurgaon, Cecilia had a “priceless experience” in India, where she played a role in the Ramboll Engineering Centre in 2014.
